Remember the Bayer-Monsanto merger? Despite concerns among anti-trust experts and opposition from 90% of Americans, shareholders approved the merger in December. Now that the ultimate corporatist gang of kleptocrats is running the show in Washington D.C., Monsanto and Bayer are expecting to close the deal by the end of the year.
Monsanto also has a significant business relationship with Scotts Miracle-Gro, another corporate criminal that has made no secret of its intentions to control the marijuana market. Toward that end, Scotts has taken over three manufacturers of products used by marijuana growers (such as grow lights, plant nutrients and hydroponic gardening supplies), working through a front group called Hawthorne.
Meanwhile, Bayer and Monsanto have been sharing their own little secrets on the production of GMO marijuana. According to Michael Straumietis, owner of Advanced Nutrients, Monsanto and Bayer have been at this for some time.
He adds, Bayer partners with GW Pharmaceuticals, which grows its own proprietary marijuana genetics. Its logical to conclude that Monsanto and Bayer want to create GMO marijuana.

(7,410 posts)There is NOTHING that Monsanto can do to improve on the current breeding industry, IMO. The strains right now are of the highest quality and clones are incredibly easy to grow. Monsanto will find a way to make it harder, then charge the consumer more for the same product.

(28,136 posts)There are simply too many independent seed breeders.
The demand for high quality genetics is intense and growers are very picky.
I know. I grow. And go on any online cannabis growing forum and you will see I'm not alone. No one wants anything from them.

(41,763 posts)Marijuana by itself is not addictive however don't put it past these companies to add nicotine to the product to make them addictive. After all, Tobacco is probably not selling like it used to, so why not use the nicotine from Tobacco and get someone hooked on Weed. It would be very easy to add nicotine with marijuana and make it addictive to those who can't afford the addiction.
