I think ANY attempt to drive the point home, ANY opportunity to put that asshole in his place - especially if you can make it into a teachable moment, is good.

ANY chance to do a correction should be seized and exploited.

Trump, who thinks he can pass value judgments on people. Who cares whether he approves or disapproves? Most people know that nobody cares about his evaluation. Why should anyone care?

He is an idiot to think that his opinion on the topic of someone's physical appearance matters.

Important things a mother teaches her son - it dawned on me that Groper Don the Con was never taught one of them - manners, decency, what is appropriate where and when, etc.

wasn't the source of his mental disorder, or even if she was, he must have distressed her for decades before she died in 1990 at 88. Amazing span of life. She was the daughter of fisherfolk in a remote Scottish village and immigrated to America listed as "domestic" on her papers (not just overstaying a "vacation" as Rump claims).

I assumed Rump's lifelong hairstyle was copied from Elvis or Troy Donahue, as such things are reportedly typical of narcissists, but according to the attached New Yorker article, "Both mother and son shared a penchant for dynamic hair sculpting, as for years Mary Trump appeared in photos with a dramatic orange swirl." (His father in later years also dyed his much sparser hair red "with a magenta tint.&quot Not much seems to be known about her. This article is very shallow.

out of respect for the dead, and concern for the living, I left that one there. Here she's displaying her signature style.

New Yorker:

“Both mother and son shared a penchant for dynamic hair sculpting, as for years Mary Trump appeared in photos with a dramatic orange swirl. Slight in frame, she took to New York City’s streets draped in furs and jewelry, a far cry from the teen-age girl who set sail during the Great Depression.

‘Looking back, I realize now that I got some of my sense of showmanship from my mother,’ Trump wrote in his 1987 book, ‘The Art of the Deal.’ He recounted how his mother was ‘enthralled by the pomp and circumstance’ of watching Queen Elizabeth’s coronation on television. ‘She always had a flair for the dramatic and grand. She was a very traditional housewife, but she also had a sense of the world beyond her.’

"Very traditional housewife," huh? There has to be some clue there to this very weird man's deplorable attitude toward women.

Similarly, Donald himself was good looking as an adolescent and young adult, especially if he was smiling, as in his picture from his military school year. He looked a lot like his son Barron, who was a beautiful child and is a beautiful young adolescent boy.

By the time we see him on TV in the 1980s, the weird creepiness of his mouth has become the most noticeable feature of his face. I think that he ended up looking so unattractive because his character and attitude have indelibly shaped the way he holds and moves his face.

Even at that, when he wasn't speaking back then, in his 30s and 40s, he still was fairly good looking. But the minute he began to speak, all we could see was that weird mouth.

They say that by the age of 40 you get the face you deserve. I think Donald got the face he deserved by the time he hit 30.

domestic worker to employer of domestics suggests she would have been charming also.

I'm not really good at reading character from faces. Some yes, but many are far too clever and deceitful to let it all become sculpted in their lines. Not The Donald, of course, but I do believe those who analyze him as emotionally arrested some time in childhood, and if anything showed I'm guessing it might be the imprint of a lifetime spent as an uncontrollable brat and bully.

prompted by his hubris.

Many men, when left on their own, don't do very well with their hair. Trump doesn't take direction from anybody on anything, thus the ridiculous neck ties and the crazy hair.

My favorite postal clerk, when undergoing his midlife crisis, dyed his hair from gray to brown. However, in the process, he dyed half his face and couldn't get it off. When I walked into the post office that morning, I couldn't stop laughing and literally had to put my face on the counter with tears rolling out of my eyes. Fortunately we had the kind of relationship that could withstand that type of reaction.

However, your post brings up some fascinating possibilities. I didn't know any of this about the mother.

Trump's hair, though, don't you think, is actually white? It's his face that's orange, and I presume that is because of the fake tanning stuff he uses.

In regard to this: "he must have distressed her for decades before she died in 1990 at 88."

It could very well be. I always think of this book:
https://www.amazon.com/Dont-Want-Live-This-Life/dp/0449911411/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1500211180&sr=1-1&keywords=Sid+and+Nancy

which I read many, many years ago, and which tells what happened in the Sid & Nancy relationship as seen by her mother. The beginning part of the book relates how Nancy was hmmm, shall we say, problematic, from her moment of birth.

Some people are just born presenting problems and challenges to others. I'm thinking Trump just might be one of those people.
