Raw Story? @RawStoryIdaho TV station forced to apologize after using activist @deray McKessons photo for bank robbery story http://ow.ly/BgoF30dEMhi
According to Business Insider, station KBOI posted a tweet on Friday night that used a photo Black Lives Matter activist DeRay McKesson during a July 2016 BLM protest in Baton Rouge.
Alerted to the picture by his followers, McKesson re-tweeted the story, with the disclaimer, I havent been anywhere near a bank robbery. FYI.
KBOI apologized in a tweet, wrting, We messed up. We mistakenly tweeted a photo of @deray with an unrelated story link about a bank robbery. We at KBOI are very sorry.
In a statement to Raw Story, McKesson wrote, Im confused as to how the image of my arrest in Baton Rouge was affixed to a story about a bank robbery in Idaho, especially given that the suspect wasnt even black.

(146,286 posts)2. Really weird. What was the actual bank robbery suspect's name?
I didn't see it in the story.
Some dumbass did a Google Image search and came up with that photo, I guess. Sloppy.

(22,912 posts)4. We are talking Idaho here
While "sloppy" is a possibility, "intentional" is also.

according to the article.

(22,912 posts)3. I'm sure there's a simple explanation for this
One with 6 letters starting with R and ending with M.

Maybe?
McKesson should pull a Trump and sue the station's ass off for defamation of character.
On April 11, 2013, Fisher announced that it would sell its properties, including KBOI-TV, to the Sinclair Broadcast Group.[9] The deal was completed on August 8, 2013.
