Sen. John McCain Has Surgery to Remove Blood Clot Above Eye
by PHIL HELSEL

Republican Sen. John McCain underwent a surgical procedure to remove a blood clot from above his left eye on Friday and will spend the next week recovering in Arizona — an absence on Capitol Hill that could cause the delay of a key procedural vote on a health care bill.

The minimally invasive surgery at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix was a success and went "very well," the Mayo Clinic said. The 80-year-old senator from Arizona is in good spirits and resting comfortably, his office said.

McCain’s absence could cause the Republican leadership to delay a procedural vote on a health care bill, as they will need 50 Republican senators to vote in support of moving on to the bill.

Because two Republican senators have already said they will vote no on the motion to proceed, if McCain is a yes vote and were to miss the vote, it would fail 49-50.

It should be clear by now that they won't give up until SOMETHING, no matter how bad, is passed? It's clear the orders have come from the WH -- as far as Trump's ego is concerned, failing to pass anything is much, much worse than passing something that harms tens of millions of Americans. Failure means he is seen as impotent -- and any alternative is preferable to THAT.

He is too rich for Russia to bribe. If there was any dirt on him it would have come up in 2008. Why does he stick to a party that is full of traitors? If he ran as an independent, he would still keep his seat. Does he have some kind of committee chairmanship as a Republican that he is afraid to lose?

Now that they can't get to 50, it's safe for all the craven Republicans to suddenly find something they don't like about the bill: "My goodness! I never realized all those tax cuts for wealthy folks would come at the expense of health care for millions. Huh. Guess I'll have to vote no on it." Or they decide they don't like the font the bill's printed in.
