The bluebirds chicks started hatching today. There are a total of 4 eggs. The male has not been around since last week and we assume he was lost due to predation. It will be a chore for the female to feed the chicks herself. We are looking into setting up a mealworm feeder for her. The chicks will fledge 17-21 days after hatching.

You can see the mealworm feeder on the external cam, it is close the nest box, I hope this works out.

Of course, I hope he reappears, but providing food for the little ones is a terrific idea.
