Ex-Trumpers have a sad that Democrats won't welcome them with open arms.

http://www.rawstory.com/2017/07/trumps-childish-antics-leaving-his-voters-feeling-conned-but-theyre-still-mad-at-liberals-for-shaming-them/

Montgomery admitted that the CNN gif really made him think twice about his support for Trump. But when he said that on Twitter, he got a backlash of attacks that he said came from liberals mocking him.

The disaffected voters were saddened they weren’t welcomed more by Democrats, who they hoped would embrace them seeing the light.

“When we get into a discussion with anybody, a family or a stranger on social media, we need to remember we are all Americans first and this is a great country,” she said. “We’re all proud to be Americans. So, just put that first in your mind and then try to see the other person’s side and see what you have in common more.”

--------------------------

Why can't we all just be friends? You can be friends with all kinds of people: Libtards, Demonrats, Satanists, thugs, sluts who want free abortion, nasty women...

Why won't the Democrats be nicer to the people who have attacked them all the time?

Why won't the Democrats try to see what it's like for other people for once???

1. It is a universal trait that they are completely oblivious to how nasty they are

The demonizing of the evil liberal boogyman is so great, they truly think and assume it is just OK to say all the things they say about us.

We could have avoided this, but we didnt.

Now that we allowed the soviets to take power, it is over.

We could have kept them from power, we didnt.

Now that they have it, they will never let go.

4. For over 50 years the conservatives have labelled Liberals

and Dems as the devil.

But guess what, Dems tend to have more of that religious mojo of compassion, caring, sharing, and heck loving and "forgiving" than their counterpart conservatives who claim sole ownership of GAWD's blessings and teachings.

Dems also believe in facts.

8. How can we do this and not enable their bigotry though?

Do they find the notion of a person being "illegal" now silly?

Do they see something wrong when a person says that "All Lives Matter" but then shrugs and turns away when a refugee needs help?

How many mosques have they walked into and talked with the people there? What do they do when they are confronted with the notion that Muslims are people just like them?

When someone says gay and/or transgendered people are "deviant" or "sick", do they speak up in disagreement?

When people who look like them and believe like them are in their company and they call people who look different and believe differently lazy who don't deserve government assistance but that actually they earned their government assistance for some reason or another, do they stand up and call that wrong?

I don't see a lot of people with Trumpgrets swallowing their own pride, stop worrying about the speck in the eye of the liberals and get the log in their eye, and actually learning from their very big mistakes.

Nobody's going to change anything at all if only one side is doing all the reaching out.

not being taken care of. All it entails is being fooled by another Republican saying they will take care of them and they are back on the bus. Without addressing the core reason they sell themselves out, because of bigotry, nothing is accomplished.

You have to address the cultural anxiety, which is tough in an age of social media.

Response to central scrutinizer (Reply #14)

Mon Jul 17, 2017, 01:41 PM

44. Actually, I think there is.

From what I've read, a lot of the people who would benefit from more progressive policies (single-payer health care, etc.) oppose them because they're white supremacists and they have a visceral reaction that the government does too much to help the "wrong" people. That's one reason they vote against their own economic interests.

Obviously, it would be better if they abandoned their bigotry. Presumably some of them do, from time to time. The political problem is that most of them don't. They'll still be racists (and misogynists and homophobes etc.) in 2018 and 2020.

So, what's the middle ground? If they come to see just how bad Trump and his ilk are for THEM, then they don't necessarily have to commit to decency on a broader scale. Suppose they say, "I think the government does too much for the blacks, and I'm unhappy about voting for the Democratic candidate for that reason, but the Republican supports policies that hurt me terribly, so I'll hold my nose and vote for the Democrat."

That's not as good as a genuine conversion, but in many cases it's the best we can hope for. I'll take it. A vote is a vote.

Funny, didn't see them talking like this when they were screaming "WE WON! YOU LOST! And without having time to actually watch the vid, i don't see any actually apologies coming forth. I'm reading some people saying "maybe, sort of, i might have made a mistake." No outright admission that they screwed up.

Now they offer up a weak, "oh gee" and expect a warm embrace?

And since half of them are still supporters, that means they have half supporters and half who won't openly admit they were wrong.

Their attitude strikes me as a little entitled.

On the severity. One on one is much different than reading or listening to interviews. On an individual basis, we can work education and exposure. We also looking to see if there are any deep rooted issues (upbringing or personal experience) and go from there. My frustration and challenge is for those that refuse to see the other viewpoints.

It can be finding opportunities for individual to learn about diverse populations. I have had people in groups I facilitated that were of various backgrounds (ethnic, religious, socioeconomic status) in order to share with each other fears as well as misperceptions about each other. I have also worked to place people in volunteer work in order to learn. I am all about trying to gain understanding. If you are isolated and not exposed or don't interact with diverse populations, your worldview can be limited. I strive to expand horizons where I can.

41. Many Trump voters aren't even Republicans

They are just rubes who became "interested" in politics when through the combo of media BS and social media BS they realized it was sort of fun to

a) hate Hillary
b) hate Obama
c) Love Trump

They were in a little club and it made them feel important and "patriotic".

And the kicker with "C" is he was the first candidate that REALLY spoke to them like the infants they are.

He doesn't use any big words. They like that, big words are hard.

He never speaks about specific policies or plans. They like that too...that stuff is boring and makes them feel dumb for not understanding stuff like what NATO even stands for or how the health insurance industry works.

He used catchy fun phrases like "drain the swamp" and "lock her up"....again...its FUN being in that club of other dopes who all don't have a clue.

Ask this type of Trump voter why Hillary was so bad, or how did Obama's policies hurt them....they have nothing. Some might try and stumble out some Benghazi trash answer or emails...but they have no idea, never did, never will....they just like the dope candidate speaking to them on their dope level. I have as we all do several family members or friends that voted Trump, posted Trump nonsense or shared horrible FB trash about Obama or Hillary....I will NEVER forget who they are and I will never look at them the same way again. My mind simply can not wrap around the idea that people could be this stupid.

Yes. We are all Americans. Dems make that clear in policies with inclusion a goal. Repugs make it known they are about exclusion with theirs. Actions = Consequences. Isn't that what they keep preaching!?!

But saying 'oops!' while expecting to be embraced unconditionally as one licks their own wounds is self serving and selfish while enforcing still the 'game' of abuse.

It's not "either/or" situation anymore. It's finding new ways of incorporating what works and discarding what doesn't in the situation.

Division is the means to attain control and power.
Unity builds strength.

As much as it may feel good to attack and mock them, we're actually going to need some of their votes if we're to have any hope of taking our country back from the far right.

To the degree that these people are undermining the Democrats chances of winning, I can't really credit them with any more intelligence than the regretful Trump voters that they're reviling.

Um, don't make fun of me for Trump "winning," (even though he didn't), threaten my health care, threaten my environment, threaten my state (CA), with no more federal funds because we're not going to jump on Trump's hate immigrants bandwagon, ignore Trump's obvious treason, and then come back and give me this, "We're all Americans" bullshit. If you're Americans, then fucking act like it.

65. They Did Not Feel That Way About Obama and Democrats

One of the Trump supporters is quoted as saying everyone needs to remember that we are all Americans and that we all love this country. She also said we should all try to see things from other people's point of view. The problem is that people like her did not do that when President Obama was in office. Trump supporters were not willing to see things from the point of view of President Obama and Democrats. Trump supporters did not want to believe that Democrats loved this country just as much as anyone else.

66. Ask why they are upset

Because their hero didn't build the wall yet?

Because there are still Muslims in the country?

Because their benefits are in danger, not just minorities?

Fuck them.

67. We always vote for policies that are in their best interests if they need government help

or need a clean environment, a safe good job and safe food and drink. What are we supposed to do, kiss their asses too?
