Appearing on Saturday at the Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa, the real estate mogul took his running feud with Arizona Sen. John McCain to a new level.

“He’s not a war hero,” said Trump. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

At a press availability following his remarks, Trump denied saying that McCain isn’t a war hero and said, “If somebody’s a prisoner, I consider them a war hero.”

He also continued his attacks on the Arizona senator, saying, “I think John McCain’s done very little for the veterans. I’m very disappointed in John McCain.”

by referencing (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) that eminently mockable figure, Krusty the Klown.

First the republican Draft-Dodger-in-Chief tweeted an insulting claim that McCain was last in his class at Annapolis. He tweeted that McCain was a "dummy."

Then he tweeted a heinous put-down of all US POWs by saying he didn't like soldiers who got captured while serving and protecting their nation. This outrageous tweet likely emanated from the republican chickenhawk's gold-encrusted penthouse while he was engorging himself with imported gourmet russian caviar.

Preposterous. Deplorable.
