We keep getting told that blue dogs are bad, that corporations are bad even if they support us, that the Democratic party is an absolute failure, that the liberal elites are bad, the party apparatus is bad, Pelosi is bad, the democratic leadership is bad, but we need to reach out to the "working class" and why are we turning away potential voters by not embracing those that voted for Trump? I'm all for trying to get through to them, but the hypocrisy of demonizing those that support us and have for a long time for the mythical "turn the Trump vote" is interesting to say the least.

(11,746 posts)These are possibilities:
1. Democrats win without the radical left;
2. Democrasts lose without the radical left;
3. The radical left shows enough discipline to not scuttle Democrats with ideological purity.
Of course the radical left could take control.
Right. Like that would ever happen.

(11,746 posts)Enough people decide that they want to agree on policies and they vote for the candidates who will work to enact those policies. When you are in office and you have WE, THE PEOPLE behind you then it's all possible.
Focus on policies, not personalities. Vote Democratic!

I'm not a purist. I want Dems to take control in 2018. Do you?
Personally, we need Sanders' Dems and Democratic Socialists. They're not our enemies

(7,170 posts)they sure seem to want us to change the entire party to be something it is not. Kick out lifelong dems but embrace trump supporters. Sounds good.

(11,746 posts)Because the lifelong Democrats, particularly the poor and people of color, don't vote as those making the demands insist.

(53,001 posts)that there is an effort to exclude or demonize Sanders voters? That's not what it says at all. He asks why there is such animosity toward the most loyal Democratic voters, and how that fits with the stated purpose of expanding the party.
It seems to me what the OP is describing are efforts to make the tent smaller, not bigger.
