#1,237,872 on the list of things

… driving me nutz about the Republican spokes-mouths in the media: the constant refrain that Don Jr. has proven he “as nothing to hide” by virtue of the fact that he’s said he’ll “agree to be interviewed” by investigative committees and answer their questions.

AS THOUGH HE HAS A CHOICE, right? What else can he say? “Fuck you, I’m not speaking to anyone”? “I have nothing to hide – but I’m not saying a word about it”?

The same goes for the unending bullshit about Junior’s “transparency”, and how he “came forward” with his emails – again proving he had nothing to hide. Everyone knows he only released those emails because he’d been told they were going to be published in the press anyway.

I do have to admit, however, that I am thoroughly enjoying watching the GOP mouth-pieces squirm – hour by hour, day after day – desperately trying to spin what has proven to be totally “unspinnable”.

I’ll say it again: I wish these Republican spin-meisters would record their appearances in the media, and then go home and watch themselves at the end of the day. I think at least SOME of them would realize just how ridiculous they sound, how laughable their excuses are, and how their “explanations” for the behaviour of this pResident and his cohorts are utterly ridiculous in light of the facts that are being revealed on a daily basis.

Given what’s come to light in just the past week alone, you’d think that any GOPer with a scintilla of self-awareness would realize that their OWN credibility is now circling the bowl – Trump & Co’s credibility having already been flushed down the pipes months ago.

If there’s any “fake news” out there, it’s being spewed by the clueless idiots who show up on TV, night after night, for the sole purpose of complaining about “fake news”. No doubt they long for the halcyon days when defending the Bowling Green Massacre, claims that Trump’s inauguration was “more bigly than Obama’s”, and the concept of “alternative facts” were the worst things they had to overcome.

We all know that Republicans don’t give a flyin’ fuck about the country or its citizens. But you’d think they’d at least want to save themselves and their party from going down with what is obviously a quickly sinking ship. But apparently that requires the kind of common sense the GOP doesn’t currently possess.

I, for one, look forward to the day when the Republicans finally realize that getting in the nearest lifeboat is preferable to singing “Nearer My Trump to Thee” while sliding beneath the icy depths.

I believe that day is coming – but when it does, it’s already become a matter of way too little, and far too late.
