McCain's surgery would've cost $76,000 without insurance.

So his pals in the Senate are going to celebrate the fact that he will be healthy and not bankrupt while they repeal affordable health care for the wasteful, lazy, free loading 23 million citizens. Sure seems fair to me.

Can John McCain produce enough profit to justify the additional $76K liability for his treatment plan?

I'd pile the irony on thick while using words that convey what they want to say but can't since McCain's a fellow senator.

Something like "We are so relieved at the successful outcome of the complivated surgery necessary to save our valued Republican colleague, and that he will continue to get top post-operative care. We are so happy that being a U.S. Senator means he will not have the slightest worries about financial worries to burden him during his weeks of recovery in his expensive hospital care. How fortunate we are to live in a country that takes care of its citizens, er, we mean, Senators so comprehensively.

If brain surgery, I'd think this would cost a lot more, based upon my experience on cost of surgery.

care he needed pre and post brain surgery would also cost a fortune. Then of course all of the longer term care and medications he will need, etc. but he's got the best healthcare in the world so is he worried?

Everyone knows how it works, insurance companies say what they'll pay,no insurance people get TOLD what they will pay. If they have to take your home and cars to pay off then so be it.
