I only asked if others were getting the same unexpected result that I was getting. It turned out that it was just my computer and there's no evidence or a problem with the DU site.

(67,086 posts)that link it wanted me to login! Weird! Interesting is, that https://www.democraticunderground.com. with a period at the end brings you to a mirrored illicit? DU site wanting you to login, but you are already logged in.

(16,646 posts)You are correct. If you just go and delete the period after the .com, it suddenly knows who you are.

(67,086 posts)period is there, it wants a login. Theoretically, IMO, someone could gather DU logins if some people mistakenly put a period at the end of the URL. My password manager, of course, rejects the site as bogus.

(5,318 posts)There's no point in clicking on it, so don't.
The problem is that brackets get removed and URLs get converted to links by the DU forum software.

(1,097 posts)Do you need a hug or something, geez? This morning, at the time of "this" conversation there was a clickable link with a period after the .com ( "com." ) of DU's url. Lighten up!

(31,464 posts)I have DU set to "keep me logged in on this computer." But at that link, I'm logged out, asking me to log in. Clearly a spoof site. Very insidious. They'll probably catch many people with this, who don't notice the period at the end of the domain.
