Was Obama Playing Three Dimensional Chess When He Signed ACA Into Law?.....

Did he anticipate Repugs being inept in legislating and set the tone for single payer?

It getting more and more apparent day by day that a Medicare for all is the only way to go.

we need to mobilize the American People to recognize that having the Dems in majority in both the House & Senate is so important. Not only to control Trump - but to truly stabilize this whole health care issue for good.

The Dems need to get more vocal starting now. Actually they should have been more vocal - but maybe this will be the catalyst for getting them to begin to fight back.

This was what congress produced.

The simple reality was:

1) Every single republican would have virulently opposed whatever Ds came up with, even THEIR OWN FORM OF HEALTH CARE REFORM, which is what the ACA was.

2) There was not even remotely the number of Ds to get anything to the left of ACA passed because you had Blue Dogs like Heath Shuler who were in districts that were too close to get past an election if he/she would have voted for "socialism" and you had too many Ds like Max Baucus who were bought out by the insurance industry.

BHO knew this all along, because he isn't a moron, and simply just put pen to the only form of health care reform that the worthless clownshow we have in congress could get to his desk.

He used the Heritage Foundation as the basis, had the insurance industry on board with it, and was able to get the foot in the door, where millions who couldn't get insurance before, are now covered. It is far from perfect, but perhaps the most important result of the ACA is that it set the stake in the ground that any future healthcare proposals had better equal or exceed the ACA, or there will be major repercussions.

I recall the terrible slamming against President Obama that occurred during that period over at DU. That mindset would have accomplished nothing. The millions with pre-existing conditions who couldn't get insured, would still not have been able to get insurance. The states that choose to expand Medicaid would not have that option, and a whole host of other positive things, especially in the area of preventive care.

While there are still significant issues with the ACA, it is that "foot in the door", that will lead to not only improving the ACA, but a real path toward single payer, or Medicare for all
