by MS RNC pundit. Just like Teddy in Obama's first term...Yeah, exactly...I will never forget how hideous he was to our Obama long after he lost to him. Sour grapes McCain. No hero to me. And certainly no Teddy Kennedy.

(1,387 posts)McCain's visceral reponse to that women who accused Obama of being a "ni... ni... ni... er... muslim" is something I will never forget. I'm sure you can find it on YouTube .
Take a close look and then remind yourself of Obama's tweet today.

(1,900 posts)to both you and Senator McCain I recall his response to that woman being something like, "No ma'am he's not a Muslim, he's a good man."

(8,224 posts)McCain plays a vital role for the republican party's majority. They need him in the room voting to win. Ted was our 60th vote. So if all they are saying is that the Rs need him in the same way the Ds needed Ted when cancer came calling, the analogy is roughly accurate.
There is no other basis for comparison of the two men, you are correct there.

(5,191 posts)Ted Kennedy was a rich man who spent a 50 plus career trying to help the least among us at every turn. I can't say the same about Senator McCain, though I wish him a speedy recovery.

Kennedy gave an endorsement to Obama on January 28, 2008, despite appeals by both Clintons not to do so.[237] In a move that was seen as a symbolic passing of the torch,[221] Kennedy said that it was "time again for a new generation of leadership," and compared Obama's ability to inspire with that of his fallen brothers.[236] In return, Kennedy gained a commitment from Obama to make universal health care a top priority of his administration if elected.

(4,835 posts)He is no Ted Kennedy. What I will remember about McCain is that he took to the Senate floor and made a crude joke about a 12 year old Chelsea Clinton looks; she, like most adolescent were going through their awkward phase.

McCain was a war criminal. He deserved a public trial for war crimes in Hanoi.
