(50,941 posts)I know. And I have heard random disparagements of Di Blasio from the left, but for the life of me I can't tell what they are based on.

(68,539 posts)they should move on. Sen. Sanders won't be president in my view... an election with him in it...in 20 could cause a loss in the general whether he wins(I don't believe he can win a general) or loses (will generate division). We need a candidate we can unite behind.

(58,785 posts)The left's burden to bear, in this nation or any other, is that more radical-leaning to extremist leftists are naturally so strongly focused on defeating the moderate left that they have little attention left for the right. To the far left, our planet's problems are always ultimately the fault of liberals who always fail to be what humanity needs them to be but won't get out of the way of Those Who See.
Given that reality, isn't it darn right unreasonable of you to expect them to just "move on" after once again losing to the more moderate, Democratic Party left--at a time when existential crisis threatens us all?
I imagine bitterness, though not hostility, will be largely replaced with hope once again as their chance to save the world comes around again with the 2018 and 2020 elections. Just wonder who they will pin their passions on then. And who will be offering that candidate. By definition, it will not be a mainstream Democratic liberal.

(68,539 posts)of left, center somewhere in between...I just want our side to win...someone with a "D" next to their name. But for the left, they see rejection when someone they consider a moderate is chosen. I will say that Hillary was not a moderate. They were wrong about her and some who claim that they were cheated when Bill Clinton was elected are also wrong...when the country is center left or center right... a leftist candidate will lose a presidential election. Bill Clinton ended 12 years of GOP presidents and before he came on the scene, we were well on our way to another GOP for four more years. Imagine a court with more Thomas's and no Ginsbergs or Breyers. Thanks for the thought provoking on point reply.

(58,785 posts)basic personality type that corresponds to "moderate," according to psychologists. We are born wired mainly either liberal or conservative of all strengths (very moderate to very extreme), with environment then weighing in.
Pew's research says we're most of us goulashes of positions from across the spectrum, "averaging out" to whatever, including centrist. Interestingly, many moderates often hold what are called "extreme" (i.e. out-of the mainstream) positions, while whose who tend extremist by personality may often support moderate positions, though generally believing they are not mainstream. And most people reportedly hold at least one position typical of the opposite extreme. (!)
Oh, well. Babbling on, but I do like this stuff.
But I agree. Hill is proven by years of very strongly analyzed behaviors to be solidly liberal with some positions to the right of and others farther left of the bulk of mainstream liberals, but mostly solidly overlapping.

(53,029 posts)Rumors were circulating that Hillary might run against him. Since she's not, he's back to being a corporatist, establishment Dem. Wall Street is right in his city, you know. If he were a true progressive he would replace those financial businesses with corpoations and lobbyists for the f35 and guns.

(50,941 posts)Those of us in NYC unions breathed a huge sigh of relief when DiBlasio broke the 12 year log jam that Bloomberg had imposed on us. I have been dimly aware of criticisms about him coming from the left and wondered what those jokers were smoking when they came up with the complaints.

(32,342 posts)I went to the SFMOMA with my mom, and then we speculated about Trump and Russia during lunch. We forgot to mention Hillary, which was an oversight. We did talk about Michelle Obama though, since mom saw her appearance on the ESPYs and said she sobbed during the whole thing, like a neoliberal.

(32,342 posts)I was also surrounded by people who were not white, straight, from here, and/or other other. Nancy Pelosi was probably around somewhere recently, and SF pretty much went seventy-billion percent for Hillary. Of course, we are all millionaires who fly in rocket cars, so that explains it.
