(35,268 posts)Will his replacement be worse?
Probably not
But what he won't be is - Recused
Sessions hanging on may be a good thing
That's what I've been saying.
The big negative, besides Sessions' obvious racism, is his pushing forfeiture laws which are hurting people. But wouldn't it be nice if Trump, in the long run, were rendered penniless because of such laws!
However, if Sessions quit, he would be replaced with someone not recused from the Russian investigations, as you said, and all the power that comes with that position.

(31,106 posts)Sessions wont ever give up that job, he will have to be fired.
Sessions isnt qualified to wax floors at the local Costco, but is in fact in a position where he can END voting by black people, END marriage rights for gays when the SC revokes that, where he can work toward making slavery legal again.
Sessions cant believe his luck, given his life long dream is to destroy black people, that is.

(108,959 posts)Anyone Trump picked to replace him would be just as far right; but a Sessions replacement wouldn't have to recuse himself from overseeing the Mueller investigation.

(715 posts)You seem to be saying that Maxine "Needs to take a seat" & most of the folks on DU, feel that she needs to not only press on BUT put on spiked boots & go full medieval on their collective asses.....THAT'S what I'm getting at.

(35,950 posts)let his message to the GOP about Trump stand alone for now.
Sessions' message to his GOP colleagues is this: When you work with or for Trump, he'll turn on you over any minor or major difference.
Right now, he's dares Trump to fire him. Which Trump's team knows will only add to the list of 'obstruction of justice' acts that the FBI is building.
But this time, as people said above and below my post, there are better reasons why Waters needs to just let their fights be public and between them for now. Public duke-outs work in the FBI's and Democrats' favor.
And yes, I'm with you. I do love the drubbing she gives them when the Democrats need to stand up.

(9,314 posts)using the Attorney General to fire him. He wants to see Sessions go so he can replace him with a new Attorney General who would be willing to do that.
When Mueller was brought on, the introduction of him specifically said he could only be fired for just cause. Looking at the reasons Trump, et al., presented in the last couple of days as conflicts of interest Mueller has, one was he belonged to one the same golf courses as Trump, and he had made political donations to people's campaigns (which Federal employees are allowed to do). So good luck with those issues.

(47,953 posts)And Sessions has other, much nastier goals, like refighting the Drug Wars and making the DOJ a bastion of white supremacy.
