They must know that they will be blamed for a sinking ship, humiliated, and exposed as unable to handle their client. Look at the humiliations that McMasters, Tillerman and Mattis have had to smile through.

(144,940 posts)Several major firms rejected Trump. Hogan Lovells in effect made Ty Cobb leave the firm in order to undertake this representation. Hogan also made sure that all of the associates and summer associates/recruits knew that the firm was not representing Trump. There was fear Hogan would love recruits and lawyers if they were representing trump

(90,758 posts)Having a good reputation doesn't necessarily mean a reputation for doing good works so much as doing good work.
It can mean what you do, you do it well. Making you a solid choice. The best bet. People will speak highly of your skills and ability. Not necessarily of your morals or ethics - but of your abilities.
A poisonous snake should be respected - if only because it can kill you. I respect that particular ability and stay away from them.
Some people, on the other hand, work with poisonous snakes..but they no less respect that ability.
