I would like a conservative Republican give me their rationlization

for letting citizens go without medical/dental care due to lack of sufficient income
the ignorant Republican representative that stated no one dies due to lack of medical care-we know better
no one with your income conservative that you care about or know dies-if the Republican party represents religion or morals explain that one...The Creator doesn't care about the poor? Really-haven't read your Bible recently have you--oh I forgot about the religion that says if you are poor God doesn't care about you so why should they....the Mafia does quite well, so God loves them? And what did your Master tell you about the poor? Not what you conservative Republicans put into motion
Come on - rationalize-explain it to me-

To them, healthcare is s privilege, not a right. Like cell phones and air conditioning.

Therefore the GOP is worse than Nixon in some ways...that's saying a lot!

Then always regretted it.

I was too young to follow issues closely at that time. The story seems so depressing that I've never backtracked and looked into it.

I'm sure later Republicans would have steadily taken it apart, even if Nixon's plan had become law.

1. Poor people are lazy and don't want to work.
2. Poor people need to work harder.
3. Poor people should just go find jobs that provide full benefits (yeah, right).
4. Rich people shouldn't be made to cover those who are undeserving.
5. Rich people shouldn't be punished for their success.
6. Rich people are wonderful and deserve tax breaks because they create jobs.
7. Health insurance is socialism and socialism is horrible.
8. People who get sick are getting God's justice; they need to live honest Christian lives and will never need health insurance.

If all else fails:

9. Fuck you, I've got mine and your sick baby is of no concern to me.

If they're low income, themselves, there is self blame for not doing better in school or not going to college or a trade school because by the time they wanted to, they had kids and were trapped in low income work and that's just laziness.

Their answer to people who can't afford health insurance premiums on low pay is consistent: "get a better job."

They don't explain what those jobs are or why they don't have one, either.

I had to leave a low pay teaching position after 15 years due to illness. I was sick about 1/4 of the time teaching due to the environment too. I couldn't collect retirement and now have a fatal, extremely painful disease diagnosed last year. Now 1/4 of my disability income goes toward the ACA not including out of pocket cosys. I had to pay $30,000 for 2 years of insur before the ACA. Now I will lose my 550 sq foot apt to pay for the needed surgeries until I eventually die. I worked 50-60 hour weeks teaching kids and rarely had time to use the bathroom let alone eat lunch while dealing with BS from parents and bureaucracy/ administration. I was anything but lazy!

in short, conservatives would merrily let millions of american needlessly suffer and die if they even *thought* it might lower their taxes by one single dollar.

At some point, religious conservatism married libertarianism. Although religious conservativism would LIKE to help poor people, her libertarian husband has forbidden it, and the bible says that wives must obey their husbands.
