It's pretty clear now that Trump will be firing Mueller pretty soon.

He tried to get Sessions to quit with the NYT article two days ago.
Sessions stayed.
Now Kislyak has revealed that Sessions discussed the Trump campaign with him.
This news was certainly released at Trump's behest so Trump will have an excuse to fire Sessions.

So Sessions will be gone in a day or two and a new stooge will be assigned the AG position.
Very soon afterwards the stooge will fire Mueller.
The press will go apoplectic and rant about how this destroys Trump's political credibility, (what credibility? who knows.) while the Republican congress ignores it all and continues to traitorously suckle at Trump's toes.

The investigation will stop and Trump with his cronies will continue to rule with renewed confidence that they are immune to US law and develop plans to overthrow future democratic elections and hand the US government over to Putin.

Some states will start up investigations but they will be small potatoes and won't begin to fix the problem of our government being undermined. Some minions could spend a little time in jail but that won't affect Trump's agenda at all.

Is there anything that can stop this coup?
It's kind of getting on my nerves.

While a new AG answering to Trump would help in the long run it would do nothing to get Mueller fired now.

But how many Republicans will stand up to Trump and not confirm his stooge?
So far nearly none.
Could the appointment be filibustered?
That might help.

Has audio on Sessions' conversations with Kisliak, who is almost certainly under audio surveillance. Seems very convenient for this to come out tonight. Perhaps 45 knew this might happen when he ptied the lid off the can with the NYT interview.

Batter up... Chris Christie come on down and fire Mueller?

Period.

There are deputies and others that can assume acting duties until this traitor is impeached.

Unless a known Democrat is nominated, all nominations should be frozen. Chuck Shumer needs to find some Republicans that can be peeled off to thwart this administration. Maybe Collins, Murkowski, Flake, and maybe McCain (if he returns). Possibly add a sweetener to get Rubio, Sasse, and/or Graham. The rest are lost causes.

now the best we can do is run delaying actions, make everything as inefficient as possible, tie the assholes' agenda up in court for as long as we can, maybe run out the clock on Trump's first term with most of our federal institutions still existing.

problem is, Trump won once without any experience or qualification or wartime "cred". if he runs again, he can claim expertise, and maybe point at some war he starts in the next 3 years to make himself into a "wartime president". we'll be at a significant disadvantage, as the Russians will be at it again, and Trump will have had several years to inflict as much damage as he can on the poorly-maintained mechanisms of our already-shaky democracy.

i predict if he doesn't leave office by 2020, willingly or otherwise, the GOP wins the election even if Trump decides not to run for a second term.

we are in the deep shit now, no question about it.

that are way beyond Trump(R)'s IQ, and they are suddenly arising the week after Trump(R) took his instructions from Putin.
