That they don't want Mueller and his team to go too far back in looking over Trump's business dealings.
"Unsurprisingly, Trumps lawyers disagree. The business transactions in question are in my view well beyond the mandate of the special counsel, John Dowd says via email. Dowd adds that the financial dealings cited in the story are unrelated to the election of 2016 or any alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
Most importantly, Dowd says, the transactions are well beyond any statute of limitation imposed by the United States Code."

Which means they're all jammed

But if a conspiracy of some sort is charged, the statute of limitations does not run until the last overt act taken to further the conspiracy takes place."

(24,259 posts)this 'possible' crime began, what the motive(s) might be, etc. He may need to back quite a few years to find all possible clues and evidence.
I believe normally the statute of limitations starts when the knowledge of a crime comes out although according to this site if it fits the definition of treason the fed gov has no SOL so it wouldn't matter when it was discovered.
FYI from link above...
18 U.S. Code § 2381 - Treason
Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

Showing a trend of transactions where Trump made unreasonable profits (e.g., the house sale for almost twice the price its purchase price two years prior) would be an example.

Don't discuss this approach with your attorney or anyone else. Just do it. List them all and present it with your signed self-pardon to Majority Leader McConnell, Speaker Ryan, and the AG.
