That's right, Trump's understanding of health insurance is so non-existent that he doesn't even know it's not the same as life insurance.

Human life means so little to Trump he can't even be bothered to spend seconds to understand critical things on the crudest, simplest level.

You'd think even the laziest, most self-centered person, when elected to such an office, would at least try to understand these things.

President Donald Trump baffled many reporters this week when he told the New York Times that it was possible to buy health insurance for only $12 a year.

“You are basically saying from the moment the insurance, you’re 21 years old, you start working and you’re paying $12 a year for insurance, and by the time you’re 70, you get a nice plan,” the president said.

The Washington Post’s Philip Bump theorized that Trump mistook the way health insurance works with the way that life insurance works, although he still wasn’t certain where Trump got the “$12 a year” portion of his claim from.

Now Christopher Long, a Kentucky-based data scientist, thinks he’s found the answer.

In a tweet that quickly went viral on Saturday, Long theorized that Trump thinks you can get $12 health insurance because he saw a commercial for baby life insurance that regularly airs on Fox News...............

Among the many head-scratching comments made by President Trump in his interview with the New York Times on Wednesday, a remark about the ideal price of health insurance was perhaps the most baffling.

“Once you get something, it’s awfully tough to take it away,” Trump said to the Times’s Maggie Haberman about coverage for preexisting conditions, a key part of the Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. Obamacare)...

You stop your planned line of questioning when something said is so outside the box. You start asking follow up and more detailed questions. When he says, "I heard the other day..." ask him who did he hear it from. How reliable was the source etc.

It seems every one of these opportunities leaves us less satisfied. I knew we had problems when that hack Matt Lauer interviewed Trump. He had the chance to stop the course of history and he failed then.

The man has demonstrated a complete lack of understanding of so many things: health insurance, difference between Medicare and Medicaid, differences between areas of the constitution assigned to the states, why Sessions had to recuse himself from Russia investigation, etc. etc.

So it is not at all surprising that he would mix up a life insurance commercial for health care.

But given how much ignorance he has shown about so many things, I worry about the soundness of the materials used to build the many Trump[ buildings around the world. Anyone with such a limited education should never be in charge of building anything bigger or higher than a backyard tree house. And even then, I might not let children play in that edifice.
