Translates as son of a whore and would be a massive insult if someone means it.

"Puta" is Spanish for "whore," so calling someone un "hijo de puta" is comparable to a sonofabitch or motherfucker.

I live in suburban Miami. Surrounded by Hispanics but many are anti-Trump. Vast difference from decades ago when I would never talk politics with any Cuban, knowing their inevitable slant.

I own a townhouse that I rent to a nice Hispanic lady. Several months ago, post election, she hesitantly said to me on the phone, "Please don't tell me you are a Republican." I laughed and told her not to worry, that I have never voted for a Republican in my life. We had a great long conversation. She works in a law office. Two of the partners are Republican and one is a Democrat. She said it got so bad they banned political conversation in the office.

When I leave Miami on frequent cross country driving trips it gets much, much worse. Rural radio is a choice of country music, ultra religious, or ultra right wing talk programs. Nothing else. I struggle to find NPR. Every time I make one of those drives I wonder if Rachel Maddow or any of the posters who think it's a center-left country or that we are going to carry Georgia or win by wide margin nationally have ever experienced those areas or those states. I'll walk into an eatery and know I'm surrounded by nothing but right wingers.

Anyway, great shirt. I'm going to show it to my neighbor. He's of Cuban heritage but despises Trump.
