WTF. . .

I just watched the news and saw Pussy Grabber behaving like Mussolini at a fucking BOY SCOUT jamboree. . .

I'm so goddamned appalled. Just speechless. Un-fucking-believable. What the FUCK has happened to our country? This pussy grabbing nightmare is 'guiding' our country?

Not one goddamned redeeming value. . . Not one. . . He is void of anything that would make him a worthy human being. I cannot thing of anybody WORSE who could have been nominated by that shitty, traitorous party and its fucking redneck meth head supporters. Goddamn.

We cannot become accustomed to this shit. I am stunned.

Tue Jul 25, 2017, 12:20 AM

1) Potus is the honorary President of the BSA. He's always invited.
2) It's very clear in the BSA literature that they are not to engage in political activities while in uniform.
3) Why would anyone think the BSA could control him?

So from my perspective, the BSA leadership was between a rock and a hard spot. They can't tell him not to attend without violating their own policies, and they know he's going to violate their policies. I can't blame the scouts themselves, you want them to be enthusiastic, but the adult leaders from the troops should have been there to remind the boys that this is not a political rally even if the President wants to make it one.

Try looking at it from this perspective: the Scout Oath and Law are pretty succinct encapsulations of our cultures ideals. Those values are what we, as a society, says are the ways people should act. So if you are honest about it you'll always find conflicts trying to live up to all of the ideals. The problem with 45 is that there is pretty much no part of the Oath and Law that he seems to view as being worth striving for.

I think he viewed them as just so many more suckers.

It's a reality and plenty of scout(er)s haven't figured out how to reconcile friendly, courteous, kind with "God hates <insert whatever>." I'd argue that by it's own rules it can't be political, and this stunt was a clear violation of BSA policy.

Here's a question I puzzle over though: There seems to be a distinct portion of society that views "biased," "partisan" and "political" as synonyms for "not agreeing with me." In that light I doubt they even see the problems this will cause for liberal scouts and scouters (yes, they do exist.)

an excuse for why they invited him. They must disavow the way he turned it into a campaign rally and must make a statement about the abysmal lack of respect shown by the scouts, etc towards an ex-president (who was a scout) and first lady (who's husband was a scout). The BSA must take a stance in line with the Oath and Law they espouse or it means absolute nothing any more.

Hubby is an Eagle & OA ('74) and when asked if they had always been 'cowards in shorts' he chuckled a bit and said, "Yeah, I suppose."

In that way they still seem to walk a fine line and as a non-profit they have to be seen as apolitical so I think it freaks them out when they run into accusations of partisan politics. The problem is the way Trump went on was OTT and not appropriate for boys nor a non-profit who wants to keep that status.

Most scouts I've known are okay... a few are jerks... some are awesome... you seem to fall into the later category from what I've seen.

Tue Jul 25, 2017, 01:01 AM
Jul 2017

The term 'Opioids' in it's current understanding (medically) encompasses everything from pure opium poppies to morphine to heroin to oxy to fentanyl. If it stimulates the body's opioid receptors (in particular the mu receptor), it's an opioid.

And there's not ALL THAT much difference between any of them, regardless whether they're derived directly from opium (poppies, morphine, codeine) or thebaine (a poppy product with minimal opioid-like properties but which serves as a pre-cursor for semi-synthetics such as hydro and oxycodone, or methadone), or entirely synthesized like Demerol & Fentanyl.

One exception being buprenorphine, which is an uber-long lasting drug that's only a partial agonist but with very strong binding affinity (in a sense, like naloxone or naltrexone ... which are opioid-ANTagonists, but also with very high binding affinity for the receptors) and hence works a bit differently from it's cousins ... recently used in treating addiction (aka 'subs'). It's also a semi-synthetic, derived from thebaine.

Also ... if you were an alcoholic 50 years ago, it's almost certain you're dead, esp. if you later became an opioid addict

Please reconsider. Donald Trump played the BSA, they had to invite him, let him speak or they would have been violating their own policies. Blaming the BSA in this case is akin to giving in to the terrorists. He used their own strength against them. Every last piece of BSA literature says that should not have happened, but you know he doesn't give a damn. The BSA needs more people who care about the country and others, or it becomes that Hitler Jugend we're all afraid of.

... with a strong and undeniable condemnation of this stunt, I'll consider supporting them again. Ex scout myself, and was an asst. scout leader for a few years in the early 90s. I understand that they were in a tight spot on the invite. But until organizations like that condemn his bull shit, it will go on unchecked, and we run the risk of becoming accustomed to it. Also, much of the country doesn't know the BSA policy, and currently think liberals are making a politically correct mountain out of a molehill. The BSA MUST get out front and center and call out his stunt, and dis-invite him from returning next year (they would sure as hell boot little "Jimmy" out if he so flagrantly violated a fundamental policy, right?). Otherwise, they are complicit in Trump's theatrics, and have lost my support. Sorry. They seem important to you. But whatever you thought they were, they're apparently not.

What a contrast to the evil we have now.

There were 12 year-olds in that BSA audience.

I put the blame entirely on Trump, who turned a regular Scout event into a rally for him, with all the ugliness that implies. However, the BSA needs to issue a statement condemning Trump's sickening speech.
