Folks, it's virtually impossible for the ACA to be repealed today or anytime this week.

Unless the Senate passes a bill that is identical to the House bill, there is still a long ways to go before it's sent to the White House.

That doesn't mean people should stop calling, writing, and showing up. But it does mean that people shouldn't despair if and when the Senate passes something. I know it's frightening, but I'm seeing a lot of people here giving the ACA its last rites.

There is still a lot of work left to do, and we can't give up now.

I don't think they can, however, at least not at this stage, They would almost certainly lose at least three GOP votes, and I'm not sure if it would get past the parliamentarian for purposes of the required vote threshold.

Hey, they've dragged the abortion fight out for 45 years, and it their mind it is still an open question. Sane people say:

when they bring it up.

We'll be fighting this for another 30 years, too, probably.

9. I'm not certain the senators even know exactly what they're voting for or against.

Supposedly there are three versions that could be presented, and at the last minute will be presented to the senators with minimal time for reading, review, and analysis.

We know these bills are more than one page, more than ten pages, sometimes more than 100 pages. And as John Conyers admitted in Fahrenheit 911, often these bills are voted on without the senators even reading them.

The pressure is either you vote for whatever bill is in front of you upon the command of the Senate Majority Leader and the President and remain a member in good standing in your party -- or go rogue, vote against it and suffer the consequences, whatever that means.

I could understand if the bill were treated with democratic principles with a thorough review and vetting, spirited debate on both sides, and then a vote without partisan consequences and revenge. But this is Bizarro World Senate and it ain't gonna happen.

If complacency helped elect Trump, it was because we took it for granted that he would lose.

I'm talking about the other end of the spectrum, where people lose hope and stop fighting because they are taking it for granted that the fight is lost.
