Schumer says Senate Democrats will not block votes on healthcare amendments

http://www.rawstory.com/2017/07/schumer-says-senate-democrats-will-not-block-votes-on-healthcare-amendments/

U.S. Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said Democrats will not block efforts by Republicans to vote on Tuesday night on amendments to a bill to repeal and replace Obamacare.

“We’ll have to see what they propose, but we don’t mind having a few votes tonight,” Schumer told reporters after the Senate voted with no Democratic support to open debate on healthcare reform.

why not delay things as much as possible? unblock Jul 2017 #1
It won't stop it from occurring. What the Democrats should do though is offer their own still_one Jul 2017 #8

I am not suggesting it as a delay strategy, I am suggesting it as a way to bring single payer, still_one Jul 2017 #16

they put in spurious amendments and delayed everything every way they could. it slows things down. it doesn't prevent any one particular thing from getting done, but it does prevent some things from getting done because eventually they run out the clock.

plus it's a big distraction, ruins any politically advantageous timing, allows time for people to get on the air and rail against it or contact congresscritters, etc....

or a public option into the discussion.

No doubt your analysis is right on, but since we are here why not bring it to the front, and let's see if we can get the public to weigh in on it

to vote for the newest Trumpcare bill because they believe Democrats will give them cover with a filibuster. Which is probably the desired result of Moscow Mitch that way they can blame Democrats. Of course Trump could screw that up by demanding to end the legislative filibuster forcing Mitch to break the rules to get this through.

Is that Schumer sees that the Republicans are imploding as they negotiate among themselves. That and some of their more draconian thoughts will be put forward in some of these amendments. No matter what it is I don't envy the position Schumer is in.
