This is a test for Stephanie Cutter

They want her to apologize.

http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/romney-campaign-calls-on-obama-to-apologize-for

You know my views on this: never apologize, they are signs of weakness (think of Richard Durbin blubbering on the floor of the Senate in 2004). The other side doesn't actually care if you are sorry, it's really just about making you do the walk of shame and humiliation.

Will Stephanie Cutter be the tough pit bull that we need her to be, or will she act like someone who got her start in John Kerry's presidential campaign.

I hope she makes the right decision.

From her Twitter feed today:

Romney hid the fact that he left Bain 3 years later than he claimed to avoid responsibility for outsourcing, etc

The O team seems much more responsive than Kerry's team.

"I'll apologize when the tax returns prove me wrong - when can we expect them Governor?"

That's basically all I want to hear.

Make all the tax returns public, show the paperwork that transferred control of Bain to someone else - IF all that checks out, Stephanie should shrug her shoulders and say "my mistake", but the words sorry or apologize should never be said.

Especially since that is running every day on my TV, versus a one-time statement read by a few thousand politiphiles.

"....Romney “consistently claimed he could not be blamed for bankruptcies and layoffs from Bain investments after February 1999 because he departed for the Olympics,” said Obama’s deputy campaign manager, Stephanie Cutter, in a statement today. “Now we know that he wasn’t telling the truth.....”

An apology will be forthcoming once the tax returns are released, and you apologize for Donald Trump questioning the Presidents birthplace, and you apologize for Mitch McConnell blocking legislation and votes, and you apologize for the Rush Limbaugh daily, and you apologize for... oh forget it, we stand by her statement.
