Photographers caught Valerie Castile embracing Don Damond during the Peace and Justice March for Justine held in Minneapolis on Thursday.
Hundreds gathered with the pair in a show of solidarity of family members whose loved ones were shot and killed by Minnesota police officers.
Because the shooting occurred just weeks after the manslaughter trial acquittal for Castile's shooting, mass protests have erupted in the Twin Cities metro.
The Damond family also hired attorney Robert Bennett, who represented the Castile family last year in a settlement over his shooting death.>
