Eugene Robinson: The worst is yet to come

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/the-worst-is-yet-to-come/2017/07/27/9c2bef6a-72ff-11e7-8f39-eeb7d3a2d304_story.html?tid=ss_tw&utm_term=.270718aae708

The worst is yet to come
By Eugene Robinson Opinion writer
July 27 at 8:04 PM

The Court of Mad King Donald is not a presidency. It is an affliction, one that saps the life out of our democratic institutions, and it must be fiercely resisted if the nation as we know it is to survive.

I wish that were hyperbole. The problem is not just that President Trump is selfish, insecure, egotistical, ignorant and unserious. It is that he neither fully grasps nor minimally respects the concept of honor, without which our governing system falls apart. He believes “honorable” means “obsequious in the service of Trump.” He believes everyone else’s motives are as base as his.

The Trump administration is, indeed, like the court of some accidental monarch who is tragically unsuited for the duties of his throne. However long it persists, we must never allow ourselves to think of the Trump White House as anything but aberrant. We must fight for the norms of American governance lest we forget them in their absence.

It gets worse and worse. The past week has marked a succession of new lows.

Of underestimating them, they are not as stupid as they want you to believe, what they are is pure evil. That is the same mistake they have made in many countries in the past, currently Venezuela, they underestimated Chavez and see where they are now.

Is completely planned. Let's not make the mistake of thinking these are dumb people. They know what they are doing, and they are doing it with purpose. Two days after the rollout of the new democratic agenda/platform, the entire nation is back talking about Transgender rights in the military because of President Douche.

want to get rid of democracy so they can have a system of unrestrained capitalism.

And that is as criminal as you can get.

If the worst happens, those of us who survive and who remember what this nation was, and what it could have been will eventually climb out from the ashes. At that point, we will place billionaire capitalists - those who made us wage slaves, those who siphoned off our tax dollars to corporate profits, those who squandered our natural resources and polluted our earth beyond hope of recovery, those who endangered our very species - under arrest. We will have a perp-walk into a large courtroom, such as they had at Nuremberg, and try them for crimes against all life. When the trials are done, they can either hang, or be put in cages for life.

The plans of the Kochs' and many other oligarchs and libertarians are well organized and planned in detail right down to rural towns and City Halls with their funding of candidates who will secure their agenda. Their think tanks, foundations, lobbyists and pacs have enormous influence and reach--but Nationalists and white supremacists, along with the Christian-right, have joined forces with them. Basically we have just described the Republican Party.
Add to that real Russian and American Mafia en force.

Once courage is lost, complacency takes hold and bondage returns. There are too many who are complicit in the crime to pull any trigger and no one in a position of power with the courage to make a move. It's a circle as old as civilization.

and that is we all feel so angry and frustrated that we can't wait for 2018, 2020, or whenever because those two elections are no guarantee of a sane outcome. Yet, no one predicted the fake prez to do so much harm in so many different areas and so quickly and consistently. Indivisible and resisting through other groups/organizations in various ways has helped slow down the repeal of the ACA which is great but it didn't stop it completely. He still went ahead with denying climate change, plans to build a wall that we will pay for, destroyed the lives of immigrants, throw our election process into a tailspin, alienated our allies, and all the while allowing Russia to continue without even a slap on the hand.

Everyone agrees we must take SERIOUS action and do it ASAP but on one knows how to do it, what to do, and who will lead it.

To wit:

In the same telephone call, Mr. Scaramucci disparaged Mr. Bannon. “I’m not Steve Bannon. I’m not trying to suck my own cock,” he said. “I’m not trying to build my own brand” on the president’s coattails.

And:
“What I want to do is I want to fucking kill all the leakers and I want to get the President’s agenda on track so we can succeed for the American people,”

So far, not a peep from the so-called president, who is probably enjoying this.

It was beyond worse when putin edged trump in Nov. 7 and we were told to accept the results of an election that had gone off its wheels. We were asked to accept an illegally nominated and confirmed Supreme Court justice. We have been asked to accept incompetents in cabinet positions, we've been asked to accept russian connivers as agency heads, we've been asked to accept senators and congressmen breaking laws, we've been asked to accept illegal firings of judges, and the FBI director, we've been asked to accept limited press briefings, and attacks on the free press. We've been asked to accept tweets on Twitter instead of formal statements from the White House. We have been asked to accept a man one shoulder shrug away from portraying a cheap gangster in a bad movie. I have not accepted one single alternate news aspect of the incompetent criminals using the toilets in the White House and I am Gd sick and tired of our elected officials accepting, appeasing, rolling over, conceding LAWS time after time as trump and putin destroy our country and our government. Get trump the hell out of the White House, roll his damage back by getting his staff and cabinet the hell out of Washington D.C. and make the republicans abide by the laws that guide our country. Enough is enough.

I find Olbermann entertaining. He was the highest rated show on MSNBC when he left, so it's not just me. I don't think he is fabricating his point of view (like people on Fox), but I can see where his "performance" is too over the top for some. Williams, for me, is less entertaining. When it gets to 11 PM, they're pretty much rehashing things that were said on the earlier shows, so you might as well have someone bring some performance element to it.
