He's clear about his principles and he pretty much sticks to them.

We may not always like them, but they're not a mystery.

It is confusing, though, for somebody to actually say what they mean and abide by their word. Damned confusing, given most politicians.

He sees the polarization and partisanship, the need to win and be proud of the fact that your party screwed over somebody, as a bad thing. He's old enough to remember when one party didn't claim a monopoly on being Americans and feel that they had a God-given right to rule as they see fit, gloating over divisive, party-line votes. It rather makes him sick, I suspect.

After what Trump did to Murkowski and Alaska I wonder how Trump is going to penalize Arizona now.

Heller maybe??

He's not going to run for election again. He doesn't have anything to lose.

They shifted votes around in the House to get the ACHA passed. Vulnerable Will Hurd was able to vote "no" and the bill passed.

As a Nevadan I can assure you I will not let Heller slide on this and will make sure as best I can he pays for that vote.

My wife and I both called and wrote to him daily for weeks. I don't think i have ever called or written a congressperson in my life more than we pestered him. I will not forget.

McCain doesn't have to worry about this.

I assume you didn't vote for Heller and probably don't have any intention to vote for his reelection. However, Nevada is a purple state.

Now Heller can go back and say, "I voted for repeal, but the Democrats failed us"

And now Heller doesn't have the baggage that goes with an actual repeal.

This really was a horrible bill. It was worse than the House bill. I can't believe Mitch twisted Heller and Capito into yes. A few weeks ago, they were against the BCRA and then they supported this train wreck.

And his own Republican Governor advised him publicly not to do this and he did it anyway. It may play well to the base but this was an important vote to a lot of people Not just Democrats.

Maybe he will slide but I doubt it.

Was a lose lose for him and he lost.
