All Quiet on the Russian Front

After weeks and even months of a steady (sometimes torrential) drip, drip, drip, it seems the spigot has been closed and few if any new revelations have been leaked or reported.

Does this mean that the sources have dried up? Has Mueller buttoned down the investigation leaving little to be learned by the general public?

I must admit, I rather enjoyed the deluge of damning information that we were privy to. It was my lifeline to reality; my one source of hope in the midst of pretty bleak circumstances. Nowadays, we're only hearing the right wing counterpoints to the long-standing allegations of Russia's attack on our election and Trump's collusion in advancing the Russian incursion. The Congressional investigations feel like they've been politicized beyond neutrality and the accused are lawyered up and speaking without rebuttal to the press. It's enough to make you feel there's been a momentum shift and the brownshirts are in the driver's seat.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is: RACHEL. Talk to me.

3. Over in Mueller's house, they're compiling lots and lots of information.

They're organizing it, creating data files and carefully sorting and mining them. They're getting information we're not getting, and they're not leaking any of it.

When they're satisfied that they have all they need, they'll create a neat report that reflects what they found. They have the advantage we don't have of actually having access to all sorts of things we do not.

It should be very interesting.

4. Federal Prosecutors NEVER leak anything

Hell, no prosecutor worth his salt leaks anything they are investigating. They want to keep the target as dumb and in the dark as possible. Thats how the game is played.

Trust me, these leaks aint coming from Mueller's team. Those guys are seasoned, successful, Federal Prosecutors who are DAMN GOOD AT THEIR JOBS.

6. My rational mind knows that what you are saying is 100% true

But my selfish side wants a return volley for every ridiculous statement that is proffered by the antagonists.

What's galling is when a media type allows a Trump apologist to say that there has been no proof offered of collusion; no proof of this, no proof of that.

When will the media retort: that's because the proof will come when the charges are made and judicial hearings produce everything that you now is claim is lacking?

8. Well, a lot of people are compensating for the lack of leaks

from the actual investigation by constantly checking Louise Mensch's Twitter feed. I suppose that gives them some relief.

This is serious stuff, and the serious people investigating it aren't sharing just now. They will, though, in their own time.

Meanwhile, there's all sorts of other interesting stuff going on in Congress, in the White House and elsewhere to keep us all occupied and entertained, even if not informed. For me, it is enough. I'll be patient about the investigation. There's much yet to be learned, but we aren't going to get it from the media right now.

I plan on dropping by my local library on the way home tonight and check one out.

I must admit, the Trump/Russia saga has all the hallmarks of a great novel....though I'd imagine I'd find it in the fiction section!
