In the absense of a single payer...

can we not make it a law that there will be a single negotiator for all the plans in a state. Any health care provider who wants insured clients has to negotiate with this body/organization. The only difference between the various insurance companies will their administrative markup ( upto 15% cap)

Btw - the body should negotiate rates for employer covered plans too. This will be give the body serious negotiating power.

Although AMA will hate it

We're going to have to wait until after the 2018 election to do that. And if we fail to win back congressional majorities, not even then. Look forward to 2018 with the realization that the result of that election is going to be crucial. Unless we ensure that we win majorities, we will still not be able to make any laws.

We need to win if we want to make laws of any kind. It is that simple.
