If you have Kaspersky lab, you really need to watch this!

Why not just fly to Russia and hand over all of your personal data. At least you could see the sights.

(21,506 posts)While I completely understand not putting it on government or military computers. I am not sure what you imagine would happen on your personal computer.
Kaspersky has been the best antivirus software for eliminating threats for at least a decade.
People actually keep a pretty close eye on this sort of software and watch what it is doing in the background. To date there have not to my knowledge been any real issues brought up with Kaspersky.
Having said that Kaspersky is very heavy on your system and inserts itself into almost anything you do on your computer. Much to invasive for my personal tastes but then if my computer is infected I can clean it myself.
For my customers that like to click on everything indiscriminately Kaspersky is my go to product for them since it does a great job of blocking most stuff.
Now it is certainly possible that Putin could take over the company and distort the software for his own use but it would be noticed pretty quickly .

(11,096 posts)I certainly didn't mean to anger you to point of a personal attack questioning my morality.
I note that you agree that the FSB ought not have access to government computers. Given that we know the FSB - like the KGB before it - uses business contacts and kompromat as a means of recruiting and controlling foreign agents, including unwitting or unwilling agents. For the same reason the FSB ought not be allowed access to government computers, I am concerned about the FSB having control of American business and personal computers.
Again, I'm sorry that I riled you. I did not intend a personal attack.
