Once Just Days Away From Dying, Gypsys Life Has Really Turned Around (dog rescue)

BY THE ANIMAL RESCUE SITE

Gypsy was a mere 34 pounds when surrendered to the Protective Animal Welfare Society by an owner who said his house foreclosed, and he simply didn’t have time to take care of a dog.

There were many signs of neglect, and Gypsy was days away from dying of starvation. Her organs had begun to shut down.

I hope he is being charged. It takes a long time for a dog to get to that point. He should have taken her to rescue as soon as he lost his house and did not have time for her.

was a black lab/collie. I got her as a puppy and she lived to 16. She was the most wonderful dog I have ever had. I get a big lump in my throat just thinking of her and it's been 10 years since she passed away.

Why do people think treating (or mistreating) an animal is OK? Especially animals like dogs who are so loyal and trusting? It takes a hard, stubborn heart to look the other way when your animal is literally wasting away in front of your eyes. When my kitty, Sushi, was in the last stages of his illness and the quality of his life was slipping downward with every passing hour, my husband and I summoned the courage to end his suffering. We cried all the way to the vet's office. But I could not look at his sad eyes and weak body and condemn him to more suffering. If there was an option to restore him to health, we'd have gladly taken that path. But there was not an option that assured us he would be ok again. So we chose the much harder one of euthanasia. I still miss my kitty but would not bring him back if it meant more suffering.

So I am glad Gypsy had a happier ending. Just wonder if her former owner learned anything?
