As Republicans are running away from Trump, remember the lessons of 2014.

2014: The Republicans had managed to make Obama so toxic that democratic candidates ran away from him. They went out of their way to NOT be associated with Obama.
The result? In the view of the voters, they didn't stand for anything and lost.

2017: Trump has made himself so toxic, that Republicans are starting to distance themselves from him. A republican pundit (forgot who) lamented that she has to go out and defend Trump every day and put up with the bullshit and hostility, even though she neither likes him nor agrees with him, but she has to because she's a Republican.

Imagine a 2018 where the republican candidates are trying to run on anything but what the Trump-administration is doing.
Where they refuse to be associated with Trump and prefer to rather talk about ANYTHING ELSE.
