Boy Scouts not aware of phone call to Trump

The Boy Scouts of America said Wednesday the organization is not aware of any calls between its leaders and President Donald Trump, even though the president recently said he got a call praising his July 24 speech at the scouting jamboree.

“I got a call from the head of the Boy Scouts saying it was the greatest speech that was ever made to them,” Trump told the Wall Street Journal in an interview last week. POLITICO published the transcript of that interview Tuesday. “They were very thankful.”

President Randall Stephenson and Chief Scout Executive Mike Surbaugh are the scouts' top leaders, but neither has disclosed any communication with Trump or his administration.

The Boy Scouts of America said in a statement on Wednesday it did not know of any call from national leaders to the White House.

The group also pointed to an apology letter Surbaugh wrote after Trump’s politically charged speech. Surbaugh said inviting presidents to the celebration is a longstanding scout tradition and urged the scouts to look past the divisive moment and toward emulating scout values.

“In a time when differences seem to separate our country, we hope the true spirit of scouting will empower our next generation of leaders to bring people together to do good in the world,” Surbaugh wrote July 27. “While we live in a challenging time in a country divided along political lines, the focus of scouting remains the same today as every day.”

if he made a personal call to trump telling him just that. He is greasing the wheels for the take-over of Time Warner and does not want that deal to fall through.
I will assume he did until he says he didn't himself.

if he could make a buck out of it. If you look at his political donations he is a big supporter of republicans.

1. He really does have this kind of conversation with the imaginary voices in his head.

2. Staffers are calling him pretending to be other people and telling him how wonderful he is. DT would totally buy it.

Or, he's a lying rat bastard.

that he simply can't fathom that that's not going to work for him as president like it did in business. He just can't help himself. It's part of who he is as a person.

Apparently, he did not foresee being the subject as ridicule as part and parcel to the job, he believed people would always believe his lies- or at least not challenge him on it. So it seems anyway. I think he thought he could bring his privileged world into the WH.
The great irony is being POTUS may be the closest he has ever gotten to being an ordinary citizen and he can't hack it.

We all know that anything out of the trump head hole is a lie. The BSA equivocate because they love them some trump - little trump youth organization that they have become.

Just say that the president lied about the call. Not this sniveling "unaware" crap.

The BSA is an old, tired, out-of-step group. They can't keep themselves from revealing the racist, homophobic leanings of their leadership. I give them 4 years.

(Disclosure: I was scout for five years. They no longer even come close to attempting to meet the ideals they set.)

They did not say they did not call. They did not say that no one in their office called. They squirreled around like we are used to seeing from the trump administration.

"Unaware". That is a sniveling way of avoiding the question.

Given the corporate, bigoted leadership, I could see some asshole like stevenson calling to butter up trump so that his merger would go through. They could just say: "The president is not telling the truth. No one called to tell him that." But they didn't. Given that the president may be lying about them and using their rapidly tarnishing reputation to build his own ego, I think they could do a little digging and become aware.

Their answer is not trustworthy.
It may be loyal to trump, but not to the tenets of scouting or to the American public.
It is certainly not helpful.
Friendly to trump maybe.
Not courteous to the donors and supporters of the BSA.
Very unkind to mislead people that way.
Obedient to whom?
A little too cheerful given the context and consequences.
Not very thrifty if it cost BSA the donations they hoped their non-apology for the trump speech would bring back.
Cowardly instead of brave.
Dirty politics and business - not clean.
Irreverent to the ideals of scouting. Mendacity is not a virtue. Squirrelliness is not an nobel goal.
