1. Donald trump has never worked a day in his life, nor has any of his kids.

Their job consists of "dont pay that contractor, make them sue us"

or Ivanka and Jared "evict that poor family and maybe they can freeze to death and die"

27. I'm a contractor. During the campaign I saw contractor trucks with Trump stickers...

WTF are they thinking? Trump has ripped off dozens (hundreds?) of contractors & put many out of business ... people JUST LIKE THEM ... but they support him?

"Yes, please! Rip me off! Don't pay me! Force me into bankruptcy so I lose my business! I'll vote for that!"

Trying to understand that level of stupid makes my head hurt.

38. It's all about grievance. Trump represents their grievances about foreigners, gays, women,

politicians, or whatever. He is their canvass to project their grievances onto, whatever they may be. But they didn't know that beyond being the grievance candidate, he has nothing to actually offer them and is too incompetent to turn his agenda into action.

wagon with it? Of course, theirs was a dog whistle for "blacks are lazy." Wonder what they think about Trump. Is he just the one lazy white man?

23. Thank you. I apologize for muddling two different magazines.

I'm very used to Time mag zingers at Trump but not Newsweek. This is more harsh than I ever remember seeing from them before. Hopefully the tide really is turning since I think we're seeing even more conservative leaning media that's finally starting to wake up.

34. I thought it was fake too because the Photoshop work is so bad ...

I'll bet whoever did it isn't a photographer. It doesn't look like they understand points of origin for light sources & the resulting shadows they produce. Makes it look kind of amateur for Newsweek.

45. I highly doubt that lighting accuracy was the ultimate goal for this cover.

BUT...the only glitch I can actually see as far as lighting goes is on the bags. Everything else has upper left lighting, which is good. The chair looks a bit cut out as well, but the image is very powerful and fitting for current events, and I'm sure that was the intent.

6. It's real, and the accompanying story is brutal

http://www.newsweek.com/2017/08/11/donald-trump-hillary-clinton-gop-white-house-potus-bannon-643996.html

....."So he sits and stews, like Al Bundy, the shoe-selling protagonist ofMarried ... With Children, the sitcom of roiling white discontent that predicted Trump better than any political scientist or pundit. Unsatisfying job, ungrateful children, all around him a nation in decline. Bundy dreams of the days when he was a high school football star; Trump, of his election-night romp through the Upper Midwest.

But that was long ago. Reality is here, an unwelcome intrusion for the aging reality television star. That “reality” was fun. This one isn’t. This one has special counsel Robert S. Mueller III rooting around like a bloodhound in his personal finances and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell droning on about budget reconciliation, whatever that is, and right-wing pundit Ann Coulter hectoring him on Twitter about illegal immigration. On the television, there is always California Representative Adam Schiff, talking about collusion with Russia and looking pissed.

Is it Friday yet?

Overwhelmed and Frustrated

Two days before the presidential inauguration, Trump tweeted a picture of himself seated at a desk, pen hovering above a stack of papers. On his face was the faraway look of a great man lost in deep thought: Pericles pondering the Athenian dead, Churchill surveying a blitzkrieged London. The accompanying text revealed that the president-elect was composing his inaugural address at the Mar-a-Lago resort, which he’d already rebranded “the Winter White House.”

The tweet was supposed to show leadership at work, but it instead revealed the lengths to which Trump will go to foster the image of diligent leadership. It didn’t take a team of CIA digital forensicists to figure out that the Spanish tile wall behind Trump in the photograph matched the one in the reception area at Mar-a-Lago. A photograph soon surfaced of a young woman at the very same desk, looking like she was ready to confirm your dinner reservation. Further scrutiny—that is, clicking a magnifying glass icon to zoom in—revealed that the papers on the desk were seemingly blank, while the writing instrument in Trump’s hand appeared to be a Sharpie, not especially useful for writing out a lengthy speech. Wanting to look like a head of state, Trump instead ended up looking like a concierge-in-training."....(more)

I subscribed, along with my family, for over 30 years. I like my magazines to be in print form and had to switch to Time mag.

I was an illustrator (before computers took over) so maybe that is part of it... a tactile thing.

While those idiots "elected" the drumpf in hopes that his childlike antics would let them do incredible damage to the US and the world, I think we need to keep remembering that those idiots (the uglicans) and their handler$ are the root cause of this evil.

We won't solve our crisis in democracy and government until we get venality and self-serving moneyed interests out of politics. Democrats and uglicans. Of course, if I wanted to start somewhere, the uglican vermin would be the first to go!

"In the first six months of his presidency, Trump found the time to send 1,029 tweets.
They include accusations of Obama “tapping” Trump Tower, juvenile taunts hurled at North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, warmed-over insinuations about the Clintons cribbed from Fox News, complaints about Attorney General Jeff Sessions, complaints about “the Republicans” and endless laments about “fake news,” many of them followed by assertions that are comically untrue. "

(darkened sentence my addition)

77. Funny as hell. But why ruin it with that solar eclipse headline?

Looks like something you'd read in a Murdoch rag. There will be no disaster whatsoever as a result of the eclipse.

78. What a dumb president!

America finds itself in a never ending nightmare. How the heck did we end up with Trump in the White House?

84. I love this, from the article:

When the weekend concludes, Trump returns to the D.C. swamp with all the enthusiasm of an office lackey slouching toward his cubicle on Monday morning.

As a former office lackey, I know the feeling, but he's a so-called president of the United States, not an office lackey.

85. I love this more everytime I see it.

When I first saw it, I looked it over and thought about how clever it was. But I really like it now.
