No, not that Robert Kennedy... People just think it is. HE is not even really an Alabama resident in my opinion, having been living everywhere but here since he graduated high school. Now he lives in the San Francisco area and as best as we can tell works there with his wife. He owns property there, lives and works there, but his father left him a house here when he died.
Why does this matter? He isn't really a dem. He was caught at a republicans town hall saying he is POSITIONING himself as a dem candidate for Senate. He told one of those people he doesn't support PP because they sell baby parts. He says he is a conservative dem that supports faith. All his funding comes from outside this state, probably because nobody here knows him and even the people in the county he is supposed to live in say they have no idea who he is. He supposedly finally admitted today that he doesn't live here at an event.
Here is why it matters. Our only shot to take a Senate seat is going to be blown by this jackass with a famous name because too many people here are too dumb to educate themselves. ROY MOORE is going to win the seat Sessions left. What a disaster that will be..
So I'm sorry, but Alabama can't get their crap together.
And I just saw his ad on this site..

(7,411 posts)He pulled off that victory with a single issue: trying to start a state lottery. It eventually failed as many predicted.
While his 2002 defeat was close, there's been a lot of water under the bridge in the two decades since his victory. Combined with the polarization and ossification the Obama presidency had on the Alabama electorate, I find it difficult to see any Democrat winning statewide office.

(2,857 posts)It is someone from another state trying to get a cushy job on his name. People are going to vote for him thinking he is someone he is not.

(21,646 posts)I am glad he has stepped up to help win back this state . He doesn't need the job really but so glad if his name can help produce a win back.
We actually have a few good dems stepping up to save us here in Illinois which is a good thing
Not sure yet who will get my vote except NOT ruiner

The reps surely would try to sneak a republican into the dem primary...

(7,411 posts)It's that simple. They were obtuse enough to elect him to the Supreme Court of Alabama even after he was removed for displaying his lack of respect for the rule of law.
As a lifelong resident of the Heart of Dixie, I can say that the majority of Alabamians show don't do a whole lot to rise above the stereotypes. To the contrary, they do a lot to feed them. It's a sad state of affairs.
