(1,681 posts)Nixon was an unindicted co-conspirator and got impeached. He very likely would have been charged if Ford had not pardoned him.
Plus, the charges for Trump and his "posse" will be so numerous and serious that they will either flee to Russia or face decades in prison.

(10,005 posts)quit but the Congress never did impeach and Nixon would not quit without a pardon.

(6,913 posts)If he's facing indictment, everybody will look for another resolution.

(10,005 posts)The term unindicted co-conspirator was familiarized in 1974 when then president Richard Nixon was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in indictments stemming from the Watergate Investigation. Nixon was not indicted due to concerns about whether the United States Constitution allowed the indictment of a sitting President (see Executive privilege).

(12,344 posts)But they knew Nixon would be impeached anyway, so it didn't really matter. In this case we have no such assurance. There is no court precedent to guide us, so the question for Mueller and the courts will be more fundamental, "Is the president above the law?" It's hard to imagine anyone answering yes to that, except Trump himself.

(12,344 posts)It will immediately become the most important case in the country, we will talk about nothing else, and the pressure on Trump will be enormous. Both sides will agree the question demands a speedy resolution one way or the other.

(21,130 posts)He has no conscience and has always gotten away with his crimes. This will just be another instance where his hand gets slapped and he will still be president. A civil war will break out in those red states if he gets indicted and impeached. His ego is too big to resign. He will destroy and bankrupt the US like he has with his companies and Russia will be smiling they finally got their revenge.
