Cause if we don't take back at least the House in 2018, we may not even have an election in 2020.
Register voters, work on getting out the vote, work, work, work for 2018. We MUST win!

(11,746 posts)We need to focus on our priority. Anyone who can't do that is part of the problem, not part of the solution.

(37,748 posts)Is it simply too difficult for an undisciplined mind to concentrate on more than one concern simultaneously, or is that merely an excuse to respond with a bumper-sticker in place of substance?
Cary
(11,746 posts)An undisciplined mind can't focus.

(11,746 posts)One of the rules was that you could have just one category. I spent a great deal of time benchmarking things that made people successful in the group. It turned out that people who focused on one thing did well, and people who could not focus on one thing did poorly. Actually, having a competitor in the group marketing a slightly different product or service made both people more successful.
My research on marketing confirmed that. Sure you can market more than one thing. But you can't do that successfully.
And no amount of persuasion on my part could convince people who didn't understand this fact that they could do whatever product or service they wanted to do, but marketing that single product or service was their key to success.
Yes, "part of the problem not the solution" is a cliche. But unlike the "walk and chew gum" cliche, I think the one I used isn't tired. It's true.

(2,062 posts)Just fucking vote left.... look if the candidate is far left or left, anything is better then the right. We need to be at least on the same fucking page. I am growing tired of hearing this parties inner fighting and bickering, lets get at least democrats in office, then work things out, because its simple....NO DEMOCRATS NO LEFT REPRESENTATION

(11,746 posts)Well if the choir is you and me, then yes, but seems to me there is not enough choir listening..... if there were, we would be calling Fuckump, just another idiot candidate, not President, so......

(2,574 posts)I am way more interested in replacing Darrell Issa locally than arguing/defending or anointing any 2020 presidential candidate. And the rancor generated from these 2020 discussions I find counterproductive, in fact, repulsive.
Can't Democrats please focus on winning 2018 first?

(25,817 posts)the presidential election. People here immediately start focusing on the next presidential contest, rather than the mid terms.
Salviati
(6,008 posts)... with the white house. The presidency is best seen as a defensive position, sure maybe they can make some offensive moves with some special tricks, but the legislature is where shit gets done, and we need to focus on taking it back, both nationally and at the state level.
PoindexterOglethorpe
(25,817 posts)why no other "third party" makes any headway in this country. They almost never run candidates for local or state offices, just every four years gear up to run someone for President. Which is too bad, because if they'd start with the local elections they'd stand a chance of building a real base.
And no, I'm not advocating that anyone here switch allegiance to one of those parties. Me, I'm a confirmed Democrat and have been my entire life. But a too narrow focus on only one office doesn't benefit us.
LanternWaste
(37,748 posts)People also pretend there's no focus on mid-terms despite that attention being given on DU every cycle. Every four years, indeed...
