https://wonkette.com/621347/oh-go-fuck-yourself-glenn-greenwaldGreenwald, who likes to remind his readers every now and then (constantly) that he really really really really really doesnt like America, and who is in theory a liberal who embraces liberal values, but totally isnt, is just not sure whether Donald Trumps plans to rip healthcare away from millions, deport the fuck out of every brown-skinned person he sees, and so on, are worse than the generals Mattis, McMaster and Kelly SUBVERTING TRUMPS AGENDA by sneakily getting appointed to sweet-ass cabinet and White House positions by Donald Trump, and then sort of trying to rein in some of President Fuck-Bonkerss most dangerous tendencies.
Oh and hes mad about the Deep State, because of course he is. Greenwald spends a lot of his column beating a straw man to death, claiming that all the sane people who HAAAAAATE Trump, many of them conservatives who worked tirelessly to keep him from getting elected, and who have been in COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY, MOTHERFUCKERS mode since Greenwalds pals at WikiLeaks and the Russians he is SO IN LOVE WITH (he would deny that accusation, but ya know, actions speak louder than words, and also fuck him) helped Trump get elected, think Greenwald and his weirdo friends are dumb for believing there is a Deep State. This is a false construct. We very much know there is a Deep State, and we know it makes Greenwald and Sean Hannity shit the bed, so we make fun of them about it.
But hes really really confused about which is worse: that Trump is in office and beating the shit out of American institutions and the Constitution, or that the so-called Deep State (normal people refer to them as career public servants) is trying its damnedest to protect the Republic from Trumps damage. The horrors! It reminds us of that thing Anthony Scaramucci whined during his 120-some-odd-hour tenure as White House Communications Director, about how there are some White House staffers who think it is their job to save America from this president. Its almost as if there is a wide consensus among thinking Americans that the traditions we hold dear are in danger, and that we should do something about it. (Also, to all those people, thank you!)
But Greenwald cant abide that, because how DARE the Deep State Military-CIA-Industrial Complex act all high and mighty like they for real care about protecting America from the authoritarian dipshit in the White House, when its very clear that #BothSidesDoIt anyway? How could Donald Trump possibly be more evil than the United States Of America has always been since forever?

(1,201 posts)in our discourse today and is great at exposing America's hypocrisy but seems everyone wants him to take their side. He has always been informative and outstanding in his investigations. Sounds like someone got their feelings hurt. I don't like a lot of stuff Greenwald says but he is definitely worth listening to.

(12,647 posts)There's a big problem with people like Greenwald who live to "expose hypocrisy" and "tear down/cut out the rot" - especially when they're intelligent or are part of the "intelligentsia" when it comes to social and political discourse.
They tend to be Manichean; and love to blindly use the meat cleavers while proving their philosophy, their morals, their ethics are the right ones.
They never pay attention to the majority of average people who are just trying to survive and might be slow to change a political, social, or economic system they're familiar with. The "Dragon Slayers" have already decided anyone who says "well, wait a minute, let's look at the entire situation and see what will make a positive difference for everyone in the long run..." is against them and is part of the corrupt system.
I've read Greenwald's books until he got to the point I started channeling my inner Dorothy Parker. He's no Stieglitz or Chomsky, and never was in a political sense. He writes better than Ayn Rand, but they're not that much different at heart. Even when he was the "Liberal Darling" during the Bush Era, he was still writing more Anti-American Society screed than Anti-Bush screed.
Back during the Bush years, he wanted his version new, improved Strong Man/Hero of the Peoples in charge, not the GOP Business interests. He was always pointing out the "stupidity" or "complacency" of the electorate - that means you and me who vote for whatever our own ethics and interests drive us to vote.
Ultimately, Greenwald has shown he's a Leninist, like Bannon. Tear it all down, start over, - he's just "kinder and gentler" because he "cares" about the little guys and the downtrodden masses - but in reality, he's really just another Authoritarian who wants to tell other people the best way to live rather than deal the messy real world that most of us have to live in.
No Diplomacy, No "Consideration", and certainly no reconsideration. He's so smart he's never wrong, and you're a corrupt enabler for even suggesting he's not thinking things through...

Here's an eye opening account of what's really going on with the alt left's breathless claim that "Kamala Harris is in Steve Mnuchin's Pocket!" that reviews the whole recommendation memo rather than simply the cherry picked parts that cunningly cast the former CA attorney general in the most damaging possible light.

Wasn't there talk about The Intercept being involved in the falsified documents that were sent to Rachel Maddow?
I'm generally suspicious when they are the only/original source for damning stories about Democratic figures.

It's patent nonsense. Donald Trump is unfit for the office, and the institutions are resisting his authoritarian and reckless impulses, as they should in a government that observes rule of law.

(6,045 posts)I definitely remember a time here on DU when any criticism of Glenn Greenwald would be met with extreme wrath & scorn aimed at anyone who did! Glenn Greenwald does share characteristics w/Steven Bannon as others have pointed out on this thread. Plus, Greenwald has no problem telling half truths or just flat out lying about people he doesn't like. Whether one agrees with Sam Harris' views on Islam or not, it is a FACT that Glenn Greenwald used many of Sam's quotes completely out of context & flat out lied about Sam Harris many times. He was relentless in his attacks on Hillary during the 2016 election & when asked, (paraphrasing) "Is it fair or good journalism to put so much time & effort into going after Hillary's one scandal when Trump has 40 scandals brewing?" He answered, "I can pretty much point to every single aspect of Donald Trumps personal, political, and financial life its been dissected by great length and with great skill by the investigative reporting teams of the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times and Washington Post." ...He actually said that in September 2016 when the media had only been seriously looking into Trump for a few months after giving him huge amounts of positive coverage & free air time throughout the GOP Primaries & early into the General Election...While at the same time the media, and of course Greenwald himself had been beating the hell out of the long dead email horse!
Also, to me, Gleen Greenwald is one of those people who will take whoever's side is against America regardless of the issue or even if that means supporting authoritarians like Putin...They will spin it however they need to in order to justify it to themselves & others that America is always wrong.
