If worse comes to worse, could the commanders take control and make a citizen's arrest to keep

Trump from his ultimate dream of pushing the button and calling for nuclear war with Korea or Russia?

I'm SO disgusted right now, I can't think of the terms I want to use, but you surely get my drift. No sane person could stand by and watch this idiot end the world as we know it. Surely...

[Time elapsed: less than one minute]
The consultation lasts as long as the president wishes, but if enemy missiles are heading toward the U.S. and the president must order a counterstrike, the consultation may last just 30 seconds. The tight time line raises the risk of launching hastily on a false warning.

The president decides to launch
Some advisers may try to change the president’s mind or resign in protest—but ultimately, the Pentagon must comply with the commander-in-chief’s order.

The keys here are about missiles heading towards us. If that is NOT the scenario, you could easily see "generals" resigning in large numbers. He can continue to force the issue, it will get progressively harder/riskier to do so. Furthermore, if he doesn't order it "immediately" he runs a huge risk of word getting out (leaking). Remember, Mattis and Kelly know the system better than he does and could easily delay, confuse, and distract him from executing the necessary actions to follow through.

POTUS in mind and not this ego-dominated clown who is presently shooting verbal threats at another so-called leader with questionable mental health.

Thanks for the link, but I have another question or two.

So, in their hacking experiment during the last campaign, as well as all the cyber snooping the Russians have done in the past, what's the possibility of them interrupting or screwing up those commands? I have been concerned about them messing with grids and other nationwide systems that could inconvenience us or shut us down, but are they sophisticated enough to pull off a coup on our nuclear system/defense system? I should think that would be a high priority for them.

We have to remember that many of his appointees have little to no experience to direct their departments. We think of the military when we hear war threats, but if this actually happens, we need all departments...federal, state and local...to work efficiently and pull in the same direction if our country is to survive. Perhaps we will be better off that he hasn't filled all those positions and long-time employees can step forward.

I regret deeply that I have left this crazy world for my grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

he will do himself in. He won't want to disappoint Ivanka or see the look on her face when she finally realizes what a loser he is.

He might be a tough talker for his supporters' excitement, but he is impotent as to strength, character and compassion.

The burden in on Congress, specifically the Republicans, and they remain shockingly locked into their tribal self interests and too terrified of their gerrymandered voters to put country first.

Unless Congress does its duty to check and balance, and stop a president who is unfit for the office, Trump will do whatever he wants in a moment of pique. To bastardize a quote from the lamentable Donald Rumsfeld,"We'll go to war with the President we have."

I think it's used as distraction. He lashes out about NK and is stirring the pot because he doesn't like how the rest of the news is going.

If by commanders you mean military, they have extremely powerful tools to change the direction of a President. They have zero business arresting Trump. Whether they try to call it a citizens arrest or not.

Perhaps I should have used coup or takeover.

If you were in a position to stop him from making a decision to end the world as we know it, which would be your main objective...to stop this moronic action or to follow the US Constitution and let him proceed?

We can only hope this will always be a hypothetical question.

I really don't know what could get me behind a military coup. Probably nothing.

"If you were in a position to stop him from making a decision to end the world as we know it, which would be your main objective...to stop this moronic action or to follow the US Constitution and let him proceed? "

Truly depends what position I'm in. I also think his election changed the world as we know it. I believe Germany, Russia and China just too over as the most influential players in the world. Trump simply gave it to them.

Sitting on a powder keg...and, many of our people right there with them.

My heart goes out to the families of these troops watching this unfold. I definitely have the troops and their loved ones who are based there in my thoughts and prayers, as well.

Maybe we're better off if he plays golf 24/7?
