tends to help a floundering president. Dubya found that out immediately after September 11th. It literally suffocated the opposition. NOBODY wanted to keep pointing out the problems and his many deficiencies and his questionable "win" - selected by the Supreme Court. And then when he took us to war, the overwhelming force-feeding that was served to America was about standing by yer president, we're at war, we have to support our president and support our troops, blah-blah-blah. I remember seeing him described in print in the mainstream media as "the popular wartime president". He was still as inept as he'd already had months to prove he was, and he had the sagging ratings to prove it.

But man, those terrorists did their thing that September, lurched the country abruptly onto a war footing to seek revenge and justice. Everybody got behind dubya either out of a sense of patriotic duty during a time of crisis ("cuz you're s'posed to&quot or out of increased ardor for the guy they were already supporting. If you opposed him for the many reasons he offered, that awful day made you volunteer to shut up about it. No matter how you felt about the guy. Suddenly everybody was a "Go Kick Their ASS!" war cheerleader. Everywhere. On the evening news. Not just stories being covered. The anchorman. Lester Holt was particularly shameless about it, and proudly so. I read an interview of him wherein he was asked about biased coverage that, in effect, made the press sound like a group of cheerleaders for the war. He said something like - "you bet I'm going to be favorable toward whatever our troops are doing!" Not the exact quote but very close as far as I can recall. Our troops were indeed over there in harm's way, so NOBODY dared question it. Good Grief that was a stifling time! Ari Fleischer, the White House Press Secretary, even said it should be. It was during one news conference around the start of that whole grim era where he said "Americans need to watch what they say."

It would not surprise me if somebody in the bowels of that White House hadn't said something about how "these things make your numbers go up. Worked like a charm for George W." Besides, we're dealing with a guy who long ago made himself a household name by manipulating public opinion.

These disasters are happening in parallel but certainly affect one another. I don't think there was a plot though.

But Kim Jong Un has been lobbing a lot of missiles lately. And they may have developed a nuclear warhead. The thing that struck me was the juvenile sounding threats Trump made today.

missiles on take off 6 months ago to being able to hit the mainland USA and having a nuke small enough to
deliver on a warhead already. I am thinking this is all CIA propaganda like Bush/Cheney put out on Iraq having
weapons of mass destruction and the mushroom cloud BS. I think we are getting conned into another war.

A fat, orange haired one.

Make a big proclamation. Get all the networks to cover it as top story. Get all the talking heads talking. Out the window goes Russia, vacation reports or what have you. Perfect.

Also sounding like a complete lune may make countries around the world careful about what they say. One nut threatens and another nut threatens back.

This is short term thinking without thinking through the long term consequences, of course.

Trump deliberately leaked about NK nukes a day before the document dump from the RNC. He then used the top-secret info he leaked as a provocation so he could escalate threats.

This distracts from the investigation and incites fears of war.

Trump is in a corner from the investigation and like other demagogues before him, he will fight to the death. The threat of war is the demagogue's tactic to unify the nation behind him.

Next comes fomented violence as an excuse for martial law, cessation of civil rights.

Trump is in his bunker.
