Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) says John McCain's brain cancer may have factored into his stunning vote last month that sunk the GOP effort to repeal and replace ObamaCare.
Sen. McCain's (R-Ariz.) vote stunned Johnson, who said McCain's illness and the fact that the vote was cast early in the morning likely influenced his decision.
"He has a brain tumor right now, that vote occurred at 1:30 in the morning. Some of that might have factored in," Johnson said in an interview on 560AM, "Chicago's Morning Answer."

Johnson seems to imply the tumor affected McCain's cognitive ability. I would submit that being close to death may have made McCain more empathetic to people who need health insurance.

(4,286 posts)If I were McCain I would beat the crap out of him.
Johnson also said:
Johnson said he was convinced at a 10:30 pm meeting that McCain would vote for the so-called skinny repeal bill because Speaker Ryan (R-Wis.) had assured senators that the House would agree to conference negotiations to revise it before final passage.
"I really thought John was going to vote yes," he said.
Johnson conceded the bare-bones repeal bill, which was a last-ditch effort by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to pass something through the Senate, was "grossly inadequate."
But he said "we did get a call from Paul and he assured us that skinny repeal was not going to pass the House and would have to go to conference."
Or maybe Sen. McCain didn't trust Ryan as far as he could spit?

(24,396 posts)Not a huge fan of McCain but this is pretty despicable. Too bad RoJo doesn't have enough of a conscience to resign. We're stuck with him until 2022 since Wisconsin voters loved him enough to elect him twice over Russ Feingold.

(46,166 posts)And how about Sen. Pete Wilson who cast a vote in the wee hours wearing his bathrobe and slippers. He came out of a hospital bed, albeit after an appendectomy, to cast that vote on Reagan's budget from a wheelchair.

So blow it out your ass, Johnson.
Bad Thoughts
(2,514 posts)Johnson is complaining about McCain not voting the way he was told to because of illness and time of day? McConnell asked McCain to interrupt his treatment and scheduled the late night vote in order to avoid public scrutiny. The GOP created the conditions for failure.
Sucks to be them.

(63,803 posts)McCain just added the right amount of sense to a senseless thing to screw the American people out of health care.
I hate how they think they are entitled to everything. This a continual class war.

(13,390 posts)is why I call out the ableism directed towards Trump. NO ONE who has claimed he is mentally ill or has dementia has standing to criticize this. Ron Johnson stands by them, though.

(1,155 posts)Talk about no-class. This guy needs to be flogged for going after Sen. Mchain in this fashion. I am no ardent fan of McCain, but this is totally uncalled for bs spewed by a useless teabagging idiot.
