Why not done? the president tweeted about the health bill.
President Donald Trumps allies are looking at his lack of legislative success so far, and they think theyve found the problem: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
Now, the president himself is criticizing his partys Senate leader, tweeting Wednesday afternoon: After 7 years of hearing Repeal & Replace, why not done?

This comes after a top White House staffer close to Trump tweeted out an attack on McConnell Wednesday morning, claiming he was making excuses for his own failure to repeal and replace Obamacare.

(115,681 posts)A president who pisses all over the Senate Majority Leader for his own party will lose his party's support very fast. Senators are a tight little club, and they don't react well to one of their own being dissed. If Dolt 45 thinks he can get his legislation passed after dumping twittershit on the Senate, he's in for a big surprise.

(65,010 posts). . . upon a delusion that the base is 99.9% of the citizenry, instead of about 3 in 10. So, if "everyone" wanted ACA repealed, what's taking so long?
The idiocy is that over 60% of people didn't want them doing that. So, there's no mandate to make it easy.

(10,270 posts)tear the walls down. His political 'voice' is about as impressive as his hands. He can blame McConnell all he wants for this (and let's face it, Turtle deserves all the scorn we can muster for him, to be sure), but really this is about the political will to Do A Thing (like Obama did), and it just aint there--because the Thing they want to Do, they KNOW is political suicide.
Welcome to the 2018 Midterms; the Republican Primaries are going to be a lovely, bloody hateful mess.

(11,736 posts)The bill failed because is was a shitty bill. That's it. End of story.
Nothing that Republicans propose to do will provide more healthcare access to people, for cheaper, with better quality because that is not what they are even trying to do.
Medical care is not a commodity in the way that an Xbox is a commodity. Medical care is a vital service that is necessary for people to live. Market forces will NEVER, EVER, EVER be able to deliver healthcare efficiently enough for the entire population, EVER. That is all the Republicans have in their playbook so it will continue to fail, unless they cheat. Which they try to do ALL the time.
Trump has no talent for legislation. He has no talent for leadership. He actually has very little talent, aside from being able to lie and trick people like a disreputable sales person, like a street crook trying to sell stolen watches.
I have no dog in this fight. They can all drag each other to hell for all I care.

If McConnell had any self-respect at this point, he'd say just that. Everyone knows the truth: Trump hasn't the foggiest idea how health care works in the United States of America. He hasn't a clue about the basic organization of health insurance, or the health care infrastructure, or why and how people use it, or how much it costs.
Trump couldn't explain the basic premise of health insurance coverage to a room of sixth graders, much less put together and sell a workable plan to the country. He's a know-nothing motherfucker.
