(38,309 posts)Turns out Walmart was where many of our gangsters were buying their guns, so Walmart stopped selling them, not entirely voluntarily.
The gangs have gone back to stealing guns, of course. Advertising gun love is an invitation to them breaking into your house when you're not home. The gangsters will steal entire gun safes.
Guns are in fact one of the few things that makes a house worth breaking into. (A big stash of fentanyl or heroin or meth might be another... cannabis, yawn, anyone can grow that.)
The gangsters buy their video games and big televisions at Best Buy like everyone else. They don't want your consumer goods, no matter how hyped or proud of them you are.
I've lived in rough-around-the-edges neighborhoods most of my life now, places where "open carry" and such madness are suicide; if the cops don't shoot you first the gangs might.
Most I've ever had stolen from my house was a VCR (when they were still worth something) by an idiot teen, worst vandalism, a car spray painted with gang graffiti, easily removed with the proper solvent. I drive a car with a Bondo-patched bullet hole in it ('cause bullet hole was was rusting and said something about me I'm not), but nobody was shooting at me, my car just happened to be caught in the crossfire.

I just assumed it was because I didn't work.
