All they do is get emotional about "Being saved" and not going to Hell and practice guru devotion toward Jesus.

They in no way follow the teachings of Jesus. They think that after they are "Saved" they are special and can do anything because they are the chosen ones and God automatically forgives them because they said a certain prayer at some point in their lives.

This whole concept was created by the rabid Anti-Semitic Martin Luther in the middle of the 16th century.

Here is some information on how he changed thinking from Wikipedia's

Luther taught that salvation and, consequently, eternal life are not earned by good deeds but are received only as the free gift of God's grace through the believer's faith in Jesus Christ as redeemer from sin. His theology challenged the authority and office of the Pope by teaching that the Bible is the only source of divinely revealed knowledge from God[3] and opposed sacerdotalism by considering all baptized Christians to be a holy priesthood.[4] Those who identify with these, and all of Luther's wider teachings, are called Lutherans, though Luther insisted on Christian or Evangelical as the only acceptable names for individuals who professed Christ.

which you post. He was sane.

And so was his son, my husband's brother, who became a published EC minister, later I think Episcopalian.

IOW, there are Evangelicals, and then there are Fundies.

P. S. I suspect we all here know how Luther began the Protestant movement with his 95 Theses. Don't need Wikipedia.
