How can you tell when Trump is being sarcastic?

He now says he was being sarcastic when thanking Putin for cutting the diplomatic payroll.

That's how you can tell. He decides that something didn't go over well, and saying he was joking or sarcastic will put it in a better light and make everyone feel stupid for not recognizing sarcasm. So he announces it after the fact; you can never tell while he is saying it.

(He exaggerates frequently but I don't think he's usually sarcastic.)

How do you know when the stock market peaked? Only afterwards. How do you know when Trump is being sarcastic or he's just joking around? Only after the public response makes whatever he said look like Grade-A Weaponized Stupid that lowers the IQ of everyone who heard it.

5. You can't. You can only tell when he is being an idiot, every time he says something.

Trump does not seem to experience or process human emotions in (as much as I hate the word) "normal" way. He is so stunted that he seems only to be able to react to fear and show anger. Trump lies incessantly. There is rarely a way to tell when he is being sincere so the best way to predict his intent is to look at his pattern of behavior.
