As the daughter of a sometimes stubborn parent, I can't imagine she didn't try (at least a little) before attempting to do damage control herself

Hair Hitler would have been full of "Fire and Fury" and whatnot. He'd have lots of very specific (if only 4th grade reading level) condemnations of the perpetrators...and had the assailant turned out to be non-white or Muslim, he'd be doing his usual total inappropriate thing of directing how the case should be prosecuted (hint: Terrorism).

But the perpetrator was one of his beloved deplorables. His "base", and those numbers ain't getting any bigger, so time to play footsie under the table with the racists AGAIN.
