Not Civil Rights Activism, not La Raza, not the assassination of King and Malcom. Not the White Supremacist backlash to all of that. All that could possibly matter from that decade is middle class kids smoking pot and attending rock concerts.

I'm sure some might hear him and play victim as a knee-jerk reaction, but that article I posted is well worth a read for anyone who wants to understand what he was saying beyond a thirty second soundbite.

That's when the monuments of Confederate generals that "celebrate our heritage" went up as a direct racist response to the Cvii Rights movement happened. Yes, all of those monuments now being taken down.

That's when the "Confederate Flag" started ebing waved as a direct response to the Civil Rights movement, even though this flag was never a flag of the confederacy and was never a flag flown anywhere at any time dring the Civil War, because the flag now called the "Confederate Flag" is actually an altered version of what was the battle standard of the Army of Northern Virginia.

This "celebrating our heritage" lie started in the 60s.

Flag celebrating racism as introduced in the 60s and widely used by the KKK:

Most of the monuments were erected far earlier, mainly during reconstruction or around the turn of the century. The flags vary greatly. MS included the "rebel" flag in their state flag starting in the 1860s not the 1960s; AL, SC and LA never included it as part of their state flag; GA added in the "rebel" flag in the 1950s and removed it about 15 years ago.
