Why Did Police Stand Down During Melee? Why Were Not White Supremacists Arrested?

There appears to be a double standard. The police and National Guard seemed to stand down during the melee. Protests against Trump or peace protesters or Ferguson protesters were met with tear gas and even violence. It looks like the police let he white supremacists have their way. There were other assaults.

of course no one was arrested. They don't arrest or even question white men.

If that driver was black, in Ferguson, and had hit white people, I doubt he would have been arrested alive. He and his car would have looked like swiss cheese.

I don't know what political affiliation Charlottesville mayor is but he was out using very strong words condemning the nazis and white supremacists.

Who gave direction to just supervise and not intervene? The police chief? If so, he should be fired acting unilaterally like that.

I'm pretty sure the police as an institution have a lot to answer for when it comes to their disparate treatment of conservative-leaning persons versus Democratic-leaning persons.
