Where do they get this stuff? Right wing idiocy!

ObamaCare: Abortion for Down Syndrome Pregnancies

There is news on the health care front. The Federal government, using ObamaCare is going to OUTLAW Downs syndrome. Bet you did not know the government was that powerful. Here is how they do it.

“Prenatal testing for Down syndrome should not be considered preventive medicine. Such tests cannot prevent the presence of Down syndrome in a child; but they can decrease the likelihood of a child with Down syndrome surviving beyond the womb. Expectant parents need accurate information, including the many positive outcomes, about life raising a child with Down syndrome.”

How can a test “ decrease the likelihood of a child with Down syndrome surviving beyond the womb“? In a word–abortion. If a test shows the possibility of such a birth, kill the baby and you decrease the number of Down syndrome babies–that is the only way.

So, one purpose we now see of ObamaCare is to create a healthy State by killing off babies government considers defective. This is a form of eugenics, a filthy process of vicious totalitarian nations.

This is another aspect of healthy care that Pelosi did not want us to know until the bill passed–government to decide who is allowed to be born. As a society are we that sick?

Last month, my daughter Juliet began second grade, where her mother and I expect her to maintain her B+ average on spelling tests and straight A’s in Chinese. In addition to being a loving daughter and big sister, Juliet also is endowed with Down syndrome. At the start of the month, the Department for Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that future births of children like Juliet should be prevented. Down syndrome is the most common genetic cause of intellectual disability and, as such, will be targeted in the new HHS regulation’s free nationwide prenatal testing program.

The Department of Health and Human Services NEVER announced such a thing.

These people make me sick!

1. And how many wing nuts will immediately think of Sarah Palin's little boy?

That's why this story was manufactured.

3. My oldest grandson has Downs.

He is a joy to our lives in so many ways. He is healthy, joyous, fun, and very loving. He is my world and I never imagined that I could love someone as much as I love him.

Regarding Sarah Palin, it was annoying to watch her out campaigning with that child. Perhaps I was too judgmental, but I kept thinking that he was not being given enough attention or care.

2. There are legitimate concerns

that prenatal testing opportunities through ACA will result in more women choosing to abort Downs babies. But to take it to the level of the article posted in my OP is outrageous! Obamacare is going to outlaw Downs syndrome? Give me a freaking break!!!

This is an interesting article about the legitimate concerns:

9. A fetus can develop into a "perfect" baby
Sat Jul 14, 2012, 07:00 AM

and a fetus can develop into a Downs baby or a baby with any number of problems, catastrophic or insignificant. Testing can detect many things, including gender. A woman hosting a fetus, regardless of her reasons why or why not, must be allowed to make the choice of carrying or not carrying that fetus to babyhood. Doesn't eugenics work both ways? Forced to abort or forced to carry -- isn't it actually the same?

11. The law is saying that pre-natal testing is going to be considered "preventative medicine"
Sat Jul 14, 2012, 07:42 AM

which means the cost should be "0" extra money for expectant mother in having a pre-natal test. Most women above the age of 35, have these tests anyway because of their age. I'm assuming if a younger mother would like to opt into having these tests, they could without being hit with additional costs.

Now, if an expectant mother finds out that their baby has a problem or some sort of condition (and this may not just be downs syndrome-- I think the wing-nuts glommed onto this birth defect because of Sister Sarah), then the expectant mother and family could make a decision about the baby.

Personally, I do not have the financial ability, emotional fortitude, or family assistance living anywhere close by that I could choose to have a child I knew would need extra. Its not selfish to be practical about a situation that would unfairly burden and stress my marriage, my time, and my son who already exists.

I would say that anyone who hasn't had to make a decision like that or knows of a family that is raising a special needs child would understand what the impact on their lives that it would mean. And I would bet that many of these wing-nuts would choose to terminate more often faced with the knowledge, than liberal, kind-hearted, and possibly more financially stable families would. They are so full of hate and venom and anything that's "different", I would think that they would handle it all "quietly" without anyone knowing the difference.

12. Downs syndrome

is one of the least troublesome trisomy issues. Some of these kids do reasonably well and live long lives. The grocery store down the street from me has several young adults with Downs as staff bagging groceries for folks. They do the job well and I am loyal to the store because they do as much as they do to accomodate the differently abled.

My ex worked for a time with the far more profoundly handicapped. A good number of these kids were trisomy at different places in the human genome. By definition, her classroom was for kids with IQs between 0 and 25. Many were horrifically defective, missing body parts, both skeletal parts and parts of major organs. They were virtually all wards of the state, as the parents did not have the resources to care for them and pay for the repeated medical interventions (surgeries - medication - special diets - tube feedings - and so much more) needed to keep them alive. The ones concious enough to express it seemed to be in constant pain. Most lived very short lives, but some few survived to be adults.

The medical interventions never stop. If you could train them to safely use a toilet this was a huge success because cleaning and changing the diaper on a 200 pound individual who did not understand what you were doing was rather a major undertaking.

Having been there and done that, I do not find genetic testing and the occasional abortion that might result to be a problem. A good number of these kids were the result of high risk pregnancies and only made it to term through very aggressive medical care for the mother. Not acting to prevent a miscarriage is medically dangerous to the mother, so many more of these kids were born than would have been if nature just took its course.

It is only modern medicine that allows these kids to be born and to survive beyond the first hours of life. Better judgement needs to be applied to when we use these tools.

Their lies aren't just spur-of-the-moment, off-the-cuff remarks either. They are well-planned, lovingly crafted, and designed to produce the maximum effect in their target demographic - which is not anyone who's capable of independent thought.

the very ones who also scream to cut programs that help the most needy among us.

A friend of mine used to say that they love all the babies til they're born.

Yes, let's cut food stamps, medicare, medicaid, and of course let's repeal the Affordable Care Act. And at the same time let's raise taxes on the poor while we cut taxes on the wealthy and widen the wealth gap.

So disgusting!
